This is a common problem with the X-box 360. While playing the disc, if the console was bumped, EVEN IF ONLY A LITTLE BIT, it will cause this ring. You could try to resurface the discs but this doesn't always word, at which point you need to replace it. Best thing for you to do is to make sure that it is well away from any foot traffics areas and is on a stable platform. Sorry :(

When i play modern warfare 2 which i got a week ago it plays but when u try to go int a mission from the main menu it says error disc unreadable

Check the disc for any visible scratches. If there are any scratches on the disc this could be causing the issue. Also make sure your disc is clean and free of any fingerprints. If there is a circular ring scratched into the disc then it's toast. Microsoft will not replace the disc for you and Activision will not either. Your best bet is to try to take it back to the store.

Have had three game discs destroyed by a deep scratching all the way around the disc...scratch runs the full 360 degree circumference. happens randomly. what is causing this and how can i fix it?

Could be caused by dirt or dust in the actual disc reader assembly for the 360. you can purchase a DVD cleaner disc for cheap from numerous retailers like best buy and walmart. or online.
Here is one I found for cheap on amazon.com with free shipping: http://www.amazon.com/Memorex-CD-DVD-Player-Laser-Lens-Cleaner/dp/B00008EM7U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1296002431&sr=8-1
If this doesnt work then there may be more serious hardware issues with the dvd drive, you can get it replaced at an authorized repair shop or you can send it in to microsoft.
Hope this helps.

The console is scratching the games in a circular pattern Antoine the disc. Why?

Chip or dirt, something stuck on the disc tray. Or theres something internal causing the disc to spin irratically. Open up the system Torx 9 drive will open it. and open the dvd drive to clean and inspect.

The console locks up and puts a round circular scratch around the outer most edge of the game disc..... its does this every now and again but it is runing olot of games throughout the year......can you...

The Xbox 360 doesn't have a mechanism to hold the disk securely in place. If you tilt or move your console while a game is playing it can potentially fall out of place and get scratched while it is being read. I recommend not bumping or moving your 360 while a game or DVD is playing.

Hope this helps!

Xbox360 seems to be scratching discs

Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “the ring of death”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but professional disc repair services is normally rerquired to restore disc laser burn damage back to "As Good As New Condition".

For further help on Xbox & Xbox 360 laser burn disc repairs or to get discs professionally repaired, visit:

www.discREPAIR.ie

You can send your discs off to this Disc Repair Service and the discs shall be sent back as good as new.

If this is happening consistently without any knocks or movement of the console, I would contact Microsoft for advice on your games console.

Halo ring on disk.

Check to see if there are any scratches or laser burn marks on the discs. Scratches or marks on discs will render game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating “Disc Read Error” or something to that effect. Best remedy for starters, is to clean the discs and make sure there are no scratches or marks left on the play-side of the discs. A common problem that Xbox owners are reporting is if the console is moved during play, a whirring noise is heard and then when the disc is removed, very visible laser burn rings are found on the disc.

If this laser burn scenario is consistently happening to your game discs especially if the console has not been moved or bumped against while the discs is in play, the games console itself may require repair.
You should contact Microsoft for assessment and guidelines.

Console scratched new Bandhero disc

Chances are that the reason it was scratched was because the console was bumped while you were playing the game. This causes a circular scratch all the way around the disc. You can try to resurface it, but this doesn't always work and you will have to rebuy the game. Sorry :(

Circular scratches on xbox 360 disc wont work in some areas of game.

Hi,
The only real solution is to take it to your nearest DVD- Video Rental Store, or store that has a Disk Polishing Machine. The scratches are where the laser head, has scuffed the Disk. Therefore normal Polishing Won,t Work.
The disk needs to be resurfaced.

Xbox360 defective and ruined games.brand new console and games.

Hello.

Xbox DVD-Drive's often scratch circles into your discs and some even got malfunctioning lasers that will burn rings into games.
To prevent the circular scratched from happening avoid moving your console at any time while it is running however it often also occurs just in regular use especially for older consoles with Hitachi or Samsung drives.
As far as I know Microsoft replaces discs that were clearly damaged by a console free of charge, at least here in Europe they do.
Try calling Xbox Customer Support and ask for a replacement it is worth a try for sure even if they shouldnt replace it they will at least give you a 1-month subscription for Xbox LIVE in exchange.

If you can get the console replaced as well depends on the support person you are talking to but usually they charge you for that if you want to fix the drive yourself, open up a PC drive and take the foam pads outs and install them in the 360 drive this will prevent the discs from getting scratched they just didnt use these pads in the Xbox for some reason which led to these problems...

I hope this helps and Good luck!

Kind regards,
