Question about Washing Machines
Washer will not empty water out of basket on final phase of cycle .
My machine (Maytag MAH4000aww) failed to drain because of a bobby-pin that was lodged in the drain pump impeller. Because of the added weight of the wet clothes, and the undrained water; the machine would not spin. The Wax motor worked as the door did lock properly, but the machine would "ramp up" trying to spin, but would stop the process when it sensed that the load was grossly unbalanced. Check the drain pump to see that it is not clogged or that the impeller is not impeded by a foreign object before spending money on imbalance switches! I will now cancel the service man, who surely would have charged me for a new pump, plus the cost of the visit, and now I can stop swearing! My wife is glad she married me!!!!

Thank you BanjoBoy, My wife washes an old bathroom rug with the rubber backing. The rubber was harden and broke into small pieces which clogged the drain. After I cleaned the drain pipe underneath the tub, the washer works like a charm!

The main control board is not sending a signal. Only solution is to replace the board located in the control panel. The MAH4000 series is notorious for board failure.
