Question about Barebone Systems

I had a paper jam on my brother mfc 420cn printer. I cleared the jam, but the error message will not clear. I unplugged the printer and turned it back on but the message was still there. Is there a reset I can do?

This indicates the jam is not clear. Please check all areas including the removable cover on the back (by pinching the 2 squeezable tabs) and pulling out.

Piece of paper 1 inch by 2 inches jammmed and won't eject when I touch start button. I can't even see it with the cover open.

you have to open up your printer covers to extract that jammed paper. However, if you haven't tried tinkering with anything electronic before you will have to seek technical assistance from a qualified expert, but if you're willing and determined to extract that piece of paper, i suggest first you unplug any power connection from your printer, then unscrew the visible screws of the cover which is nearest the jammed piece of paper. never turn any cylinder if it resists your effort, however, try to manually turn cylinders where that small piece of paper is wedged until it comes off. Try to pull down on that piece of paper using a hair puller or forcep.

Brother MFC-440CN Error 50

The cover on the 440CN is tough to get off. I have removed many. I will tell you that the cable from the scan (black mylar [plastic]) is fragile. I destroyed one of the printers by killing the connector end of the cable. That being said, on the 440 you have to remove the push button panel before the cover. There are 3 screws in the back. The cover then snaps off but feels like you are breaking it and it will snap as it comes off. I did not break this part on any of the printers so.... you should not worry too much. After that there are clips on the front that keep the top cover on. You must release these with a screw driver. You can insert the screw driver and twist. While twisting apply some upward pressure and it will release. You also have to remove a number of connectors, ground wire to get it apart.

Paper jam

open all door in your printer , front and back. , look for paper stuck inside and remove it. Sometimes small pieces of paper are difficult to be found.
If it is a Laser printer, you will also need to remove the toner and paper try and look for jammed papert underneat.
Once you done, restart the machine.
If you still have paper jam error try unplugging printer from power outlet for 5 minutes then restart.
If you still get error, then either there is paper inside or your printer may be faulty.

Brothe MFC-240C paper jam error msg won't clear

**, it is not fixed. I followed instructions on Brother web site and was able to find a piece of paper near the printhead, so I removed it. The printer makes a grinding sound when it tries to print and the same paper jam error returns and can't be cleared. I beleive that the printer repair cost will be more expensive than replacing it with a different printer, and it won't be Brother brand. I probably would not be able or have the tools to do any complicated repair job.

Pls chk thoroughly the inner parts are clear of any shreds of paper. Blow air thro vacuum cleaner. A small piece of paper sitting on a sensor can create this sort of problem. (For eg, the cartridge stops at both the ends after 'sensing' the end. If paper sticks here, it cant sense and will lead to a crash)

I have an HP Photosmart 8050 printer that gives me a paper jam message after each print job

i,d suggest that the paper sensor is faulty.
try unplugging your printer, and setting it back up.
alternatively, hold down the paper-jam button if it,s flashing.
