Ds wont save settings

My daughter has a DS not Lite, but each time she turns it on it says you got to enter setting eg. date of birth, time etc. she does this and it says that it need to shutdown, when she turns it back on its back to the same stuff again which means she can't play any games. Any help out there?

Sounds like corrupt firmware but there is no way to download new firmware or install it for the DS that i know of.

The DS may not have it but computers use a small watch battery to save this information. There could possibly be a small watch battery on the motherbaord for the DS that went bad and possibly if you replaced it it maybe hold it's time, date, etc. again.

I could be way off but it may help.

I did find a website that you can buy replacement parts to fix DS's.

The only thing you can buy that makes sense towards your problem is a new logic board.

The Ds memory unfortunately is not stored using power from a small 'watch type battery'. The power used for storing the memory comes directly from the Ds battery. Therefore the connections for the power for the memory from the battery may have been damaged. If your Ds was working and you haven't taken it apart and then it stopped working then please post a few more details about when it happened and I will investigate further for you.

When I put my game in the ds "system date error

it is possible that the date recorded on the save in your game is different from that on the ds. check the date and time in your ds settings and correct them if necessary. do not have a cartridge in the slot when you try this.

Hi, my daughter has a nintendo ds lite that she bought in late July of last year. Today when she turned it on it wanted her to re-enter all start up information, i.e name, date, time, birthday. then it...

This is a well known problem caused by not using the Nintendo DS console for an extended period of time. Inside the actual console is an internal battery, which when left dormant will cease to work. There are two ways to fix this problem:
1) Try to fully charge the Nintendo DS console, then attempt to use it. 2) Contact Nintendo on the following form:
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/manuals/warrantytext_eng.jsp
Providing your warranty is still okay, Nintendo will provide you with a new system free of charge - otherwise you may have to pay a replacement fee which will be a fraction of the actual consoles price.

DS lite only playing one type of game

Reset Factory Settings for Nintendo DS 1. Use a small screwdriver to unscrew the back cover.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Wait a few seconds.
4. Replace battery.
5. Turn on DS.
6a. If you have to re-enter your nick-name/time and date etc, it has worked! Go to 7.
6b. If not, remove the battery again and wait longer.
7. Replace cover and screw back in place.

You probably damaged the main circuit board and the settings like the date cant be saved properly so after reboot it thinks something has happened and wants you to re set settings and happenes again and again.

New ds lite will not save initial settings

Either the battery has stopped functioning properly and needs replacing, or one of the battery terminal connecters has become loose and needs to be replaced with a new battery terminal (as the battery acts as a lithium battery found in a pc to save the bios settings), but they are quite difficult to desolder and reapply, best bet is to probably get another mobo. Touch screen ribbon cable could have worked loose and needs tweaking or the connector is faulty and again needs to be replaced.

Date settings gone

Is it a ds or a ds lite?

Turn on the unit with no cartidges. Press the screen to acknowledge the warning message.
On the next screen, press the tiny ds icon at the center bottom of the lower screen. This enters the setup. Fromhere you can press the clock calender icon (blue one) to set the time. Youcan also change other settingswith the other icons.

Nintendo DS Lite setup failure

Could be a bad battery. Open the battery cover and take out the battery for a little then put it back in and you can setup stuff again.

Time and date

While the unit is OFF, push down and hold the START button then turn ON the NDS. You can try the same with the SELECT or both buttons down. That must grant you access to the DS main menu.

By default the DS load the game cartridge when only one slot is used and let you choose when two slots are used. So if both slots are empty the menu must appear though your case would be very rare.

Good Luck...
