Brand new SMEG dishwasher: STA 8745. Light 1 flashes, light 5 is permanently on. Washed 3 times before this error occured, installed professionally by my kitchen company. Have to wait AGES for a repair man to come (and he probably won't be equipped to solve it anyway I bet).

Would like some troubleshooting ideas please...

SOURCE: My Smeg dishwasher DWF 64 SSE won't go onto rinse or dry

Easy one first try this to see if it helps

Water pre-heating
Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water.

To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.

Warning! To lessen the risk of scalding, don't set the hot water heater temperature higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

SOURCE: SMEG Dishwasher - Water fill level is too low

Hi, I found your problem stuck here from one year ago.

I will post my solution the same, as reference for you and more users with same problem, apologies.

Re: smeg dishwasher fails to fill with enough water to sucessfully wash. It does put some water in.. but nowhere near enough.

Before checking parts inside the machine, ensure that water is coming from the faucet at the back with regular pressure.

To start check the water level sensor.

This is usually a floater sensor located on a side inside the dishwasher.

Check if water level is working properly, if the floater is getting stuck then that is the problem.

If the water level is OK, then the responsible is usually the inlet valve, or clogged inlet lines.

From description it looks more like a faulty water level.

When the dishwasher starts or when water starts to enter dishwasher there is a loud noise.

ther could be something stuck n your drain pump.
the way it works is first the unit drains, the it fills, then it start to wash. now if you hear this noise after it drains then it could be your water valve or after it fills when it starts to wash it could be your circulation pump. it depends on what cycle you hear the noise. let me know if this help by posting 4 thumbs up for this answer, thanks

check manual, your water hardness and salt/detergent quantities can make a big difference, theres usually some switches you can adjust for salt/detergent,if not check for partial blockage in pump etc,may be not enough water comming through.

Check to make sure there r no kinks’ in the drain line or that it is not clogged it sounds like the sensor is tripping because there is too much strain on the pump just like a breaker.
