Volvo V70 2.4 Estate Automatic

I have noticed recently on my temperature gauge the needle is not going to the halfway line like it normally does it is stopping at the line just before. Is there something wrong or do I need to put water in the engine or something like that. I am getting a little worried just in case it si something serious.

Normally it is the fan motor itself. If it gets hot in stop and go traffic, while at idle,or on hot days,it could very well be the fan.Rather inexpensive and easy to fix, should not take more than 2-3 hrs.

Hi i am installing a audio system in my 96 honda civic. i need to know if there is a aux hole on the firewall or if i need to drill one . if so where do i drill ?

Do you have a manual or automatic transmission as there is a rubber grommet that would normally be used for the clutch cable to go through........but if you have an automatic then this would be the ideal location to put wiring through as no hole would have to be drilled in the firewall, and you could make a **** in the existing rubber grommet and silastic where the wires go through to ensure an air tight condition..hope this helps. !!!!!!!!!!

When my bass hits, my car lights flicker.

Is the problem much more noticeable when the car is at idle? Double check that Alternator output. 70 amps is not high output, and if the problem is especially noticeable at idle, it's probably due to the alternator putting out lower voltage( a common thing with alternators). Also, with that much draw from your sub amp, the wire from battery to alternator should be beefed up, as well as the ground wire from battery. You can make up your own cables by purchasing the wire to length and wire lugs at a local Welding shop, 4 gauge from alternator to battery is good. High output aftermarket Alternators shoot into the 200 amp range.

I have a jvc KD-G320 deck and need help hooking up subs...

Hello c92bivens,

While your KD-G320 does not have a specific subwoofer output, Kenwood did make provisions for adding one. There are two stereo pairs of line outputs on the back, one each for front and back. On the set for the rear, you can select a "line output mode" of "REAR" for normal speakers, or "WOOFER" for operating a sub.

Page 14 of your owners manual details the setting procedure while page 31 shows the connections. The manual incorrectly refers to the FRONT line outputs on page 14. Use the REAR line outs instead. If you do not have a manual, you can download the PDF version here at Crutchfields's web site. Ignore the "DISCONTINUED" notice (it's an old head unit), and scroll down the left just under "What's in the box" and click the "download owners manual" link.

Hope this helps. If it does, please rate as "FixYa".

Mileage clock skipping miles and speedometer needle sticking

The speedometer cable from the trainny to the gauge is loose or worn. Cost about $50 to $200 to tighten up or replace. Goodluck.

Car speakers and ground wires

  • What gauge is the wire used to route your battery + and - ?
  • What does audio your system consist of?
There could be several things happening. The hum is most likely from a ground loop or bad ground of some kind. Search the web for a "ground loop isolator" and pick one up.

The dimming sounds like there's just too much draw on your batteries for the wiring and system that you have. If the wire used to connect amp to battery and battery to battery are too small, there will be too much voltage drop in the wire. Plus, if your system is giant, you may have to add a 1 farad capacitor (or larger) or a high output alternator to your system to keep up with the power draw by the amp(s).
