Probably some speaker wires got shorted or the output stages freaked out and the cpu went into protect mode. Normally plugging it out of and in to the wall socket should/could reset it.

First check all wiring at the speaker outputs and on the speakers
then if it still wont startup you could try the avr-1500 method with
some trial and error pressing of buttons.

avr-1500 reset method:
Unplug the unit from the wall, hold down both video select and audio select at the same time, plug it back in. Keep holding both buttons for 2 secs, unit will reboot. As you have no audio select button on your avr-1100 you might try pressing video select and another key to see if this will reboot it.

Why does "Protect" appear on my receiver before going out?

Hi,

The receiver will go into protection mode when there is a short in the speaker wires or the amplifier was overloaded. verify that none of the speaker wire connections are loose at the back of the receiver or at each speaker. And verify that none of the wires are making contact with each other.

if it is, then remove the speaker wires and connect them again properly. After disconnection g the speaker wires, unplug the receiver for 10 to 15 minutes. This will make the overload protection back to normal

Try this and let me know. I hope this would solve the issue

Thanks

HI there, my receiver display "PROTECT" flashing! why?

THE GOAL HEAR IS TO DETERMINE IF THE INSTALLATION IS CAUSING YOUR PROTECTION FAULT OR IS IT THE RECEIVER ITSELF HAVING INTERNAL DAMAGE. REMOVE THE RCA INPUTS AND DISCONNECT THE SPEAKERS, THEN POWER THE AMPLIFIER UP WITH THIS NO INPUT, NO SPEAKER LOAD CONDITION. IF IT STILL GOES INTO PROTECTION, THEN THE RECEIVER WILL NEED TO BE SERVICED, AS YOU HAVE TOTALLY SIMULATED A BENCHED CONDITION THAT IS TOTALLY INDEPENDENT OF YOUR INSTALLATION. MOST TIMES, THE RECEIVE WILL GO INTO PROTECTION WHEN IT SEES AN EXCESSIVE LOAD WHEN TURNING UP THE VOLUME, WHICH IS USUALLY CAUSED BY TOO MANY SPEAKERS OR DAMAGED SPEAKERS, BUT IF NO SPEAKERS CONNECTED, THEN IT IS USUALLY BECAUSE THE RECEIVER SEE AN EXCESSIVE LOAD DUE TO ITS OUTPUT SECTION BEING DAMAGED. IN ANY CASE, ONCE REPAIRED, YOU MUST CHECK YOUR SPEAKERS FOR BURNED VOICE-COILS, WHICH WILL IMPOSE AN EXCESSIVE LOAD TO THE AMPLIFIER AND CAN CAUSE IT TO FAIL AGAIN. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V

My receiver is in protect mode.

The units in the protect mode because the Microprocessor detects a large current being drawn by the amp. section of the reciver. This is a solid state unit and there are no user replaceable parts inside this unit. Unless you know how to trouble shoot sloid state devices then you should seek a pro to assist you with this repair. GOOD LUCK
