42PFL7422D/37 Flat Panel LCD TV no picture no sound

I HAVE A 42 INCH PHILIPS MODEL 42PFL7422D/37 TV.

MY PROBLEM IS THAT IT HAS NO PICTURE AND NO SOUND.
THERE IS A GLOWING BACKLIGHTING.

THERE IS A BLUE LIGHT WHEN I TURN POWER ON THE TV. NO CLICKING RELAY SOUND.

MY PROBLEM WAS IN THE SLAVE INVERTER BOARD.

THE IC CHIP WAS BLOWN - SEE PICTURE. THERE IS A BURNED, DARK BROWN MARK ON ONE OF THE CONTACT LEADS ON THE CHIP.

THERE ARE $20 FIX IT KITS THAT YOU CAN BUY ON EBAY TO REPLACE THIS TINY LITTLE CHIP BUT IT'S RECOMMENDED THAT YOU SOLDER VERY CAREFULLY. I TRIED, AND DAMAGED THE BOARD SO I BOUGHT A USED ONE.

REMOVING THE IC CHIP IS PROBABLY BEST DONE WITH A HOT AIR SOLDER GUN. THEY COST ABOUT 50-200 DOLLARS.

AFTER INSTALLATION IT FIRED RIGHT UP.

IN ADDITION TO THE JUST BUYING ANOTHER INVERTER BOARD, I ALSO TESTED THE MASTER INVERTER TRANSFORMERS. ON THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD, I TESTED THE DIODES, AND RESISTORS, AND CHECKED THE FUSE.

AFTER ALL OF THE ABOVE, I UPDATED THE FIRMWARE BY GOING TO THE PHILIPS WEBSITE.

LUCKY FOR MY SITUATION IT WAS NOT THE MASTER INVERTER, MAIN , TCON, POWERSUPPLY, OR DAMAGED BONDING ON THE LCD PANEL ITSELF.

TOTAL COST $50.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Why is my 42" Phillips LCD TV losing the picture about 1-2 seconds after turning it on? The blue power light at the bottom stay on even after the picture has gone away though.

Hi
Beware of doing anything to Philips brand TVs, without previous experience in service. This is the first thing I have to say to you.
Unlike other brand TVS, the Philips circuits are more complicated, and will be difficult to follow to a new-be. I think, you got me.
Please contact the authorized service center for Philips.

My Phillips TV (42PFL7422D/37)light comes on to show power but the screen does not light up. It does have sound. Guy on line stated it most likely is the T-con board/LCD controller. That this is common...

Try to to put-off your lights and see if you have slight illumination on the screen, if it does, its the t-con board. If totally none, you have to change your Inverter board.

Philips 42PFL7422D/37 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Picture went out but still have sound. Any tips on how to fix it?

If the backlight of the LCD-panel does not function, (no picture) then Master and/or Slave inverter are defective. Inverter boards are screwed to both sides of the LCD display, if they have revision 1.2 boards then they will need replaced with revision 1.3 boards.

I have a phillips 42 inch lcd model 42pfl7422d that has sound but no picture

Hello Mendez the problem that your tv set is having is coming from the inverter board this board provides the high voltage for your backlight without the backlight no picture, what i want you to do is go online sometimes this happens go online look for the service manual for your tv set once you find it get it look for the inverter boards location and check the fuse that is on that board sometimes they blow and it will give you this problem if that is your problem you save money and the hassel of taking it anywhere to get it fixed,if it is not the fuse then the inverter board needs to be changed out and that will fix your problem thank you hope this helps.
