Question about Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 Notebook

1 Answer

Inaccessible boot device

When I turn my laptop on, I receive a blue screen that is advising a STOP error - Inaccessible Boot Device message. This is the first time I have received / seen the Stop error screen. I turned my machine off and then repowered it up and am still receiving the screen. I am unable to escape or get out of this screen.

Any ideas?

How do you run CHKDSK /F with the blue screen stop error on my desktop?

You MUST have a boot device like CD, DVD, or USB. Use the install disc to access command prompt, by choosing the repair option. You could also download and burn a boot CD like Hirens.

The other option is to remove the drive and attach it as a slave or USB to another computer.

When i am trying to instaling win xp .getting a error message like stop 0x00000007B in a blue screen

hello Shameeralipk,

The most popular Blue Screen of Death error in Windows is the STOP 0x0000007B error, sometimes called the 0x7b error or the "INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE" BSOD.

This BSOD (which is actually the common name for a STOP Error) could mean that there's a serious hardware problem with a hard drive controller, a driver issue, or even a boot sector virus.

I get blue screen when shutting down my windows 7

The blue screen of death is a serious problem. One ofthe causes could be overheating or could be because the graphics card isdamaged and doesn't work anymore. Try to use Registry cleaner and be freeof blue screen errors

Unfortunately, it sounds like your hard drive is out. Or the boot track has been damaged. You can try a repair using the win 2000 cd. Read the following link :

Since it is your business computer, I would advise that you have the hard drive removed from the unit and have your data saved, before attempting any action.

When I try to turn my computer on i have a blue screen message saying "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." I can't login or anything. I have even...

From your request, the question is very general.

Code Stop 0x0000007B, it means "inaccessible boot device": Windows is not able to read from the device it's supposed to be booting from. That device would normally be your hard drive - but if you're getting this during Windows installation, it could be something wrong with your CD or DVD drive..

The Stop 0x0000007B error message will be displayed on your screen with a lot of other information in what is know as the "Blue Screen Of Death" or "BSOD".

Different PCs have different "IDE or Sata interface default settings" depending on the OEM manufacturer specifications. Check your OEM motherboard require any BIOS updating.

If your PC is a desktop, remove all the PCI devices installed on the PCI slots.

If you can access to the CMOS BIOS, reset the settings to default, save the settings and reboot your computer.

If the your PC can access to windows, do a "chkdsk /f/r" from the "Command Prompt".

If not you have to reinstall the OS.

My computer starts to boot then once it is completed the a message comes up saying there is an error and then a blue screen comes up and reboots itself. THis continues and does not stop

When starting up, press the F8 key to catch the Boot Menu. Select the option to disable automatic restart on system failure. Boot and when it fails the Blue Screen will remain for you. Look near the top and see what file has been identified as the failure i.e. NV4_disp.dll. (Google the file name to see what program or hardware the failed file is associated with) Press and Hold the power button to shut down. Turn the computer back on and press the F8 key again to catch the Boot menu, and select Safe mode. If allowed into Safe Mode, try to go into Device Manager and either disable the failing device, or remove the associated program. If this doesn't work you can try to do a system restore to a date before this error started to appear. If you post back the file causing the blue screen, I can instruct you further.

IBM T20,inaccessible boot device

The Innaccessable Boot Device message means one of 2 things:

1: your hard drive has died - not much here, must replace drive.

2: The master boot record has become corrupt. Without any media, this will be hard to fix. You will need to boot to the Windows CD and either run the recovery console or perform a windows repair to fix this issue.

Screen has stop inaccessiable boot device on it

If you are running windows, Insert your windows cd and set computer to start from cd. When prompted to, hit a key to boot from CD. Let Windows start the install (relax it is not really installing anything) when it gets to the prompt tell it you want to Repair an existing installation. Then pick the prompt that gets you the recovery console. When you get to the prompt type CHKDSK /R and let it run. Sometimes this can take an hour or more depending on the size of your drive. Do not get worried if the percentages complete go backwards, like from 70% back to 50%. Sometimes it will go back and fix files. Hopefully you will not get the error that there are unrecoverable errors. This has worked for me on about 90% of the hard drives that I received the inaccessible boot device.
