What do you mean by four sections. Can you see everything on the screen but just in different colors. If so then it is the video card. Another thing you may want to try is to reseat the LCD cable on the system.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.
Why did you replace the lcd inverter? Were you able to barely see icons on the desktop which is an indication that the lcd inverter is bad? If not, then you need to replace the lcd screen. If you could barely see the icons and you replaced the lcd inverter, then the inverter is bad. Just because the inverter is new does not mean it works. If the video shows on the external monitor, but you can't see anything on the laptop's screen even when you shine a flashlight on it then the lcd screen is bad.
Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barelysee the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.
Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can beany kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vgacable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves yourvideo card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you rebootwithout you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN(Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correctkey for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key willnormally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display. If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works, then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash lightand nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card isbad.

If is shows on the external monitor, then you would have to question if
the new screen and lcd inverter is bad. Just because they are new don't
mean they work. Are you sure you purchased the lcd screen and inverter
that is for your model?
- Hook up an external monitor. - If the line is visible on the external display, try to update your video card driver. But if updating the driver will not remove the vertical lines, you are certainly having problem with the video card of the laptop. - If the line is not visible, then the problem is with the LCD of the unit. Either you have to replace or check the connections of the LCD inverter or LCD cable. - However, if you don't have any external monitor, go to BIOS setup (by pressing F10, or whatever key is designed to access the BIOS on your laptop) and check if the line is visible, if yes, you're having an LCD/screen problem. Either you have to replace or check the connections of the LCD inverter or LCD cable.
What do you mean you replaced the video card? that is impossible, you would have had to replace the whole mainboard.
Okay you replaced the inverter, I suppose it was a tested and known good condition working inverter? does it work on another machine?
The lcd display, same with inverter? Has it been tested that its backlights work properly?
Then aslong as the small cable between mainboard and inverterboard is connected properly, it should work. But if it does not you have 3 possible causes.
1, Faulty display backlights 2, Faulty inverter board 3, bad cable / inserted wrong or motherboard is not providing the required electricity to the inverterboard.
3 reasons....either could be correct... 1 - RAM card is corrupt...change RAM card...(remove the exsiting RAM card and clean and replace the same...look for them on the bottom of the notebook) 2 - OS is corrupt, need to re-install OS....if u r on WindowsXP then I have a clear solution....let me know... 3 - Screen is out...(LCD screen is out or the backlite inside the screen is out or the inverter board inside the LCD panel is out)
