Question about Hitachi UltraVision CineForm 55VG825 55" HDTV
My Hitachi Has a big red blob in the middle of the screen, we can not get it to go away. any suggestions
I recently had the same problem. You need to contact Hitachi (1-800-448-2244) and advise them of the issue. Hitachi will give you a local service contact who will look at your TV and advise you that the light engine needs replacement. Afterwards, you need to call Hitachi back and speak with a customer service Rep. They replaced the part (I was quoted $530) but I had to pay labor and service (($370). If your TV is 12-18 months you should be able to get them to cover both. Based on the service rep that fixed mine, he indicated he has replaced about 40 of these since late 2007. Mine was replaced last week and now I have a different issue, a bright blue pixel light. Now it's round 2 with the service department. I have not been impressed with Hitachi's customer service considering I spent $3200 on this TV 3 years ago. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Let other Hitachi TV owners know about the Class Action Lawsuit against Hitachi regarding the defective optical light engine. They need to call the Law Firm in Dallas Texas, HORP & B, that you mentioned is handling the case and talk to Victor @ 1-877-308-7900. They are taking documentation and cases regarding this suit and people that feel like they have been treated unfairly wherein Hitachi denied sending them a new optical light engine @ n/c need to call and state their case.

I contacted Hitachi for same problem, same model# and spoke to Kevin in CS #800-654-7013 and he told me that since my set is 4 years old and no "reported" problems until now that they cannot help me. He says that my LE lasted this long because its not in an enclosed cabinet (mine sits out in the open on stand) I dont remember reading that it had to be on an open stand or not, it shouldnt matter the LE in that console is a problem and they should replace it no matter what the age. Shame on me for not abuseing mine. :-(
I chose Hitachi over SONY because of price, well lesson learned you get what you pay for.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
Here's a link to this great service
