SOURCE: Connection is lost (6410)

As previously stated a 6410 error is a comunication error between your Palm and your computer. Uninstalling and reinstalling Palm desktop will do nothing to rectify your issue. You say it stops on recognizing handheld. Do you have another Palm connect USB adapter to try or another computer that has COM ports on it so you can perform a serial HotSync? Under the current configuration you will not be able to perform a complete synchronization. You have a week connection between your Palm and your computer.

SOURCE: Treo 755p Getting Stuck During HotSync

If you have another computer you could try installing the software on that to see if the Treo will sync.
This would determine if it's a computer problem or if it's your Treo.

When you unchecked the datebook to sync after uninstall/reinstalling, was it able to sync then?

I have had other palms get hung up to a certain point during the sync, but uninstalled the program or disabled it from syncing like you tried and it usually works.

During hotsync, data wont transfer from Computer to palm

Older palm products and vista aren't compatible. You either needs to transfer info via bluetooth or upgrade your palm if you wish to continue using vista.

Help

I had the same issue.  I finally upgraded to the current version of Outlook.  That seemed to solve the issue for me.  Syncing a palm is not easy.  I will never buy a Palm again.

Crash after Hotsync

There were some problems with the hotsync working with Vista. I don't know if they fixed them yet. Best bet is to look on Palm.com and see if the current hotsync program supports Vista.

If it isn't listed, it may not support it.

Connection is lost (6410)

First open the HotSync custom menu, start changing conduits to do nothing. Work your way down the list until you end up with a complete HotSync. If you still have the 6410 error, unplug the USB adapter, replug and try your HotSync again. The USB adapter may be the week link in this equation.

I believe you will have no problems. HotSync talks to the Outlook client rather than the server.

Sync fails with "too many open databases"

This is what I did to fix that error:

Hard-reset your Palm to erase all data (that usually involves pushing the small "reset" button on the back, then pressing the "power on" button until the device boots, and then pressing "up" to confirm the hard-reset)

After that, sync your palm. The sync software will ask if you want to use your existing profile or create a new one. Create a new one. Then the program will offer to sync your Outlook profile with your Palm. Click on "ok", and a message asking you to accept to sync your Outlook data with more than one profile will pop-up. Click on OK, again... and that's it!
