I have two desktops and one laptop on my di-524. One desktop no longer connects. The others are fine. Is this a router or adapter problem? I tried a d-link 'stick' but after working for one day, it no longer functions. Any ideas?

All you have to do is that you will have to setup your Hp to share or to be seen by other machine on the network by going to the network properties then setting the network, file and folder on your hp to be seen and shared by other machine.

Do you need to see the desktop or just share folders from each other? If the latter then you need to do the following:

Use Windows Explorer and select a folder you want to share. Right click and select sharing and security.

On the sharing tab click on Share this folder. Enter a share name ( I like to enter the PC name _folder name; Rick1_Downloads)

Click on Permissions. If your ok with everyone using the PC's and Laptops having access then highlight Everyone and click on Full Control.

Do this on each PC and Laptop.

That should be it or darned near close.

Try opening internet explorer and typing in http://192.168.0.1 in the address box
If this doesn't work try http://192.168.1.1

For the username and password put admin for username and leave the password blank

Now look for an option for the Wireless Settings and change the channel from usually channel 11 to channel 4 your laptop may now see it. Otherwise try another, channels available in the uk are 1-12, I think it's 1 to 11 in USA

you can buy a cheap USB wifi adapter and connect the desktop wirelessly just like your laptop, this should do the trick.
or you can buy an access point to extend the range of the wireless network, you should not be moving the router itself this way.

you need to configure the wireless encryption key on your desktop computer.logon to your router and configure wireless setting and configure your desktop with the same SSID / wep key and it shud connect.post back any errors

does your utp cable crimped correctly? have you tested this? try to use this utp cable to your laptop if its okay then follow the instruction as what is written in the manual, i also experience like this with my 4pc's before and i found out that the utp cable i crimped was not properly done. in the case of the DI-524 this is just a plug and play you don't need to configure.
