Re: creative vision m
You should not have had to install anything for the Zen to work on Vista.
If you have installed any Creative software, remove it. Reboot, plug
your player in, open Device Manager, and remove the device that shows
up representing your player (completely uninstall it). Reboot again,
and plug in your player. It should be recognized now.
If that still doesn't work, then boot your player into Recovery Mode,
and perform both a Disk Cleanup and a Reformat. Reboot the player and
try plugging it in again. if it still doesn't try another computer and upload the latest firmware to it and then try it on your pc after firmware is loaded

What you might want to try is to connect the USB cable to the device and an open port on your PC and let it charge and see if after it has a full charge if you can power it on without having any other problem. Or if after it has a full charge if it is recognized by your PC as a connected device. If it has a full charge and recognized by your PC you should be able to use it without having any problem. Another solution is to download the updated firmware software, run the firmware update check your device and see if the display shows the Creative Labs logo if so you are in the clear and it should work without any other action needing to be taken on your behalf
Hi you can try going to Creative's web site and downloading there
Creative MP3 Player Recovery Tool software and what that does is
update everything and most of the time it will fix what the problem .
I would try that first.

You will need to put the Zen into recovery mode and erase the firmware, then reload the firmware. Follow these steps:
To Erase the Firmware:
1. Get a paperclip and straighten it out.
2. Hold down the Play/Pause button, and put the paperclip through the reset hole. Release the paperclip while continuing to press the Play/Pause button until you see the screen change.
3. Select "Reload Firmware."
To Load the new Firmware:
Go to www.Creative.com/support --> downloads. Click through the navigation and download the latest Zen Touch firmware. Reboot your computer, then plug in your Zen via USB cable. Double-click the firmware icon and then click upgrade.
I'm having the exact same problem. My zen is 'charging' but isn't detected anywhere on my pc and I'd leave it charging for days but nothing happens. I've tried different usb ports, reinstalling the software several times but nothing. I recently reinstalled Windows and with my new pc my Zen cannot work on it for some reason?! I put previous files from my old pc onto my Zen hoping that I could transfer them onto my new Windows pc but I fear I've lost the data on my Zen completely. Arggh, any suggestions guys? Please..x
