Re: System Link

For a direct link to work you need to use a "crossover" lan cable. you can find these by going to your local circuit city or other electronics store. try using the router with the cables from each 360 hooked into lan ports 1 and 2 on the router. try it in the same room if possible. when i had a lan party i had to turn off the wireless radio of my DI-624+ wireless radio to solve the problem of the router dropping the connection.

also, be sure that both 360's network settings are either set to automatic for direct link, or have static IP ( and for example) and the correct DNS addresses ( primary/ secondary for d-link routers). the DNS of your specific router can be found by calling customer support for your router and asking for it.

Me and my friend have the xbox 360 saints row 2 you have the same downloaded content yet where we try to co-op the game tells us we do not or the we could not connect i have a cable modem as well as him

More then likely one of the two of you has a closed NAT system. Which is preventing you being able to comunicate effecively. You can also look at your router settings to make sure that you have your setups working best with your Xbox. Here is a link with simple instructions to get the most out of your router and Xbox system.:

Need system update

Connect your Xbox 360 to your router via an ethernet cable and download the update from directly from Xbox Live. Alternatively, you can download the update on your computer and either burn the file to a CD/DVD or drop the file onto a Memory Stick and put that into the Xbox to run the update. Most newer games have the newest update directly on the game disc. Direct link to Microsoft:

Wont let xbox live update i checked connection and it was fine

If your Xbox 360 console is connected to the Internet through a router or gateway (as opposed to through a direct modem connection), try connecting the console directly to the modem. Here's how:

  1. Plug one end of a network cable into the back of your Xbox 360 console and the other end into your modem.
  2. On the console, sign in to Xbox LIVE and start the game.
  3. Choose to download the game update.

If you can download game updates when the Xbox 360 console is connected directly to the modem, there might be a problem with your router or gateway configuration.

My son wants to play against his sister but can't find anywhere that lets her enter the game?

Both have to have xbox 360. Both have to have the ethernet cable attached to each other. (This is called a system link)

  1. Make sure you have the necessary supplies needed for System Linking (all supplies list at the bottom).

System Link cable or an Ethernet Hub.
  2. Ads by Google
    '; for(i = 0; i '+ '' + google_ads[i].line1 + ' ' + google_ads[i].line2 + ' ' + google_ads[i].line3 + '

  3. 2Make sure that all of the Xboxes that will be used are hooked up to different TVs.
    1. 3
    2. To connect two Xboxes, use a System Link Cable and insert one end of the cable into the Ethernet adapter of one of the Xbox consoles and the other end into the other console's Ethernet adapter.

    3. If you are using two Xbox 360s, you can use a standard RJ-45 Ethernet cable instead of the System Link cable.
    1. 4Connect them each into an Ethernet Hub or Switch. A router will also work.
    2. 5Turn each console on and load a copy of the game into each console.

I can't join my friends' parties or games on xbox live. I am directly connected from my internet modem to my xbox using the ethernet cable. Help?

Your xbox is designed to be used with a router, not useing a router is kind of like haveing 2 large men pass each other in a really narrow hallway. a router kind of acts like a larger space in the middle of the hallway for them to pass each other. There is quite a bit of information passing to and from your xbox, it works better if you have that space for it to work with.
I personally use the D link Gamer lounge and have had exellent luck with it for the 2 years.

for a complete list of aproved routers visit and click on support.

    Good luck.

I suggest you use a Router, the Xbox 360 have had some issues with Crossover Cables. A cheap $10 switch or router will help you play your fun game of prey. And Halo 3 is coming out in September, I'll be getting it and I hope you will too.

Link Your Console to Another Console

Console-to-Console Connection: Wireless Some Xbox games offer console-to-console, or system-link, play, in which two or more players (depending on the game) can wirelessly network their consoles for multiplayer use. Console-to-console wireless networks are also known as ad-hoc networks. In ad-hoc networks, a wireless adapter on one device connects directly to a wireless adapter on another device. An Internet connection isn't shared with this type of network, and the console-to-console connection is typically temporary. For console-to-console play, you need: Two Xbox 360 consoles. Two Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapters. An Xbox 360 game that supports system link play. To wirelessly connect your console to another console: Attach an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to the back of each console as described in Use Your Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter. On each console, go to the System area to enter your network settings. (They will be the same for each console.) If all settings are correct, exit the System area. The consoles should now be wirelessly connected to each other.
