Find out what is burning and replace it. Or call for service if that is beyond your ability.

Unit is cooking and getting ready to self destruct. Check out your power supply visually and look for something that is discolored from heat. Also follow your nose.

The pop was a high voltage arc of electricity that blew some vital components on the main circuit board. The unit is of no use now. Repairs are far more than replacing the TV.

Panasonic PT-51HX40B turns itself off and has no video, no lights

The buzzing noise that you were earing came from a bad ballast, and because of the bad ballast your lamp must have got out also, and that is were you are getting the burned smel from and also that is why you are no longer geteting any picture either.

So in this case you would have to replace the ballast board and the lamp on your tv set.

A very common result from using inferior replacement parts is
exactly as you described, Scott. We are careful to use only first
quality STK IC's.Generally, that means paying around $16.00 each.If you purchase seconds, that is about how long they last !
Now you also must locate burnt 6.8 ohm 1 watt resistors near IC's.........Probably no further harm done....Do over with new parts.......T.

panasonic is well known for two capacitors 1200pf 2k volts, also it has been known to short out the mosfet transistor, it sounds like you only need to replace the caps.

First there are a few questions. Did You disconnect fly back xformer (black honeycomb looking deal with red large gauge wires)? Did you make sure your solder splash didn't bleed over on causing shorted amplfier(s)? Have you identified what component has went home to ma ma? You should see discoloration on either board, replace blown fuse power board replace damage part(s) and go over real good before applying power.

Panasonic PT-47WX49E will not power on

Thats a power supply module going bad. Dont use it until a person with knowledge on TV see that. Or if you feel you can DIY open the back panel to see if there is a toasted or foreign object near the power supply area. Its located when you follow the main plug going into the back panel of your TV. Look for a dying Fuse too. And watch out for Capacitor that has still current, you may electicuted with that component. That parts its only for qualified servicemen area only.
