Sounds Like you need to Navigate to "Sounds" on your control Panel the Check to see if its there. If so Make it default after enabling it. If not got to Troubleshooting and run that it should clear that problem up
I suggest you to look for the device manager in the computer [Start--->Start search--->type devmgmt.msc and hit the enter button on the keypad]
and download the drivers online .
Or some computers come with the recovery manager utility that helps you burn the recovery partition on the disc, since this is again brand specific,it would be easier if you mention the make of the computer that you are using.
Thanks & Regards,
Go to start and hit control panel. Next click Sounds, Speech, and Audio devices. Click 'change speaker settings'. Click audio in the tabs. Click the droplist and select the speaker brand you have.
If that doesn't work, make sure the speakers are connected to the correct computer jacks. Green is the common speaker color, so hook the speaker wire into the green computer input.
Pink is microphone, so that could be the problem.
The all in one solution software you used in XP doen't work with Vista.
But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.
1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie HP C3180) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.
Try doing a test recording in the Windows media recorder. Chances are you will get a wave signal if it has an internal mic.. Usually laptops have built in mics but descktops don't.

IF THAT DONT WORK REPLY HERE AND WE WILL HAVE A LOOK AT THE DRIVERS..
Unfortunately, the only way to repair the screen, is to send the computer back to acer. The prolem, is that the diode that controls one of the RGB Channels is broken, and since there are a million of these the size of a pin tip, it is extremely hard. As for the vista install problem, it could be a bad hard drive, try installing a new one, and if that doesn't work try finding the drivers it needs, and installing them somehow.
