I recently had some virus problems on my laptop so i had a family friend, who works on computers for a living clean my laptop for me and install what he thought was the best virus protection. Anyways, when...

Sounds like you have the wrong driver for your sound card. What is the make and model of your laptop? Usually manufacturer's such as dell, gateway, etc have a site where you can get the drivers for your particular laptop. Another thing to try is to go to device manager (varying from win xp,vista, mac osx etc) to roll back the driver to an older version. If it is win vista/7 then you can uninstall from here and win7 will automatically install the driver for you.

Sound has gone on my PC. Skype states that I need a sound card. This I have had since the purchase of the PC 4 years ago but has suddenly gone as of yesterday - maybe I pressed the wrong button.

open skype go to tools from the drop down list select options scroll to audio settings

you can make a free test call before you try to make a call

make sure the microphone is using the same as your computers audio

click start control panel sounds and audio devices audio and also voice it's the same make sure that you have the right default microphone selected you should be able scroll to video settings to make sure you have the right settings

Open skype go to tools options scroll to audio settings or video settings on the right you will see webcam setting you can change the settings from there click apply after changing any settings also you can see the webcam there?you can even take a snapsot also make sure your settings are correct for a video call

hope this helps

Can't install m-audio firewire

It doesn't 64-bit windows. (no driver) this is part of why people who are serious about audio tend to use macs.

You can install 32-bit windows, then the included drivers will work.
