If you haven't tried restarting your computer, do that first.

If that didn't help try to restart your print spooler.

Click on your start button and then on Run.

Type services.msc and then OK. In the services window find Print Spooler.

Double click it to open, it should say started. Click stop, wait for it to stop, then click start again. This should clear out your job.

I have a HP 4385 --how do you cancel a print job---it was sent a print job multiple times (over 10) from a Mac and i do not know how to cancel these jobs as they were sent in error and are huge ink...

The printer should have a stop/cancel buttom on the panel, just press that and it sould cancel the print job.

Also, you can delete the job queue from the computer. You should have a printer in the Dock, click on that and select jobs and click on the delete button. If you don't have the printer on the Dock, click on Apple, System Preferences and select Printers. Select your printer and click on Open Queue and delete the jobs from there.

Printer will not cancel print job

Sounds like the printer spool is frozen.

Assuming you're using WinXP and logged in as an administrator (or with admin permissions)

START
Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Services

Locate the "Print Spooler"
Right click on this and choose "restart"

This will restart the print queue and will probably try to print the job again or delete it properly. If it tries to restart, just right click on the printer job and choose cancel again..

You may need to repeat but that should at least get you back up and running with other print jobs again.

Not printing and nothing is paused or on the print list.

First of all you must let canceled print jobs finish deleting before sending new jobs, if the job is taking too long try restarting the computer with the printer on to clear the jobs this usually works if not then after restart open the printers folder and cancel all jobs here. let them finish deleting while the printer is still on (they must remain in communication during deleting jobs. Once all jobs are gone, remove the power brick from the printer for about a minute then reinsert and let the printer start up if it doesn't after a minute or so just turn it on once it finishes then try printing again.

Printing status frozen and won't delete or print

Have you tried unpluging your printer from the computer as well as unpluging the printer from the electrical? If that doesn't work you should start from scratch... that is remove the printer from the computer memory, delete it, turn off the computer, turn on the computer and go through the installation process as if you just purchased the printer. Barring any mechanical problems as in jams or the such, the printer should return to operational status.
