Scanner light on HP Officejet J5780 does not come on.

I'm trying to set up my new all in one. It prints an alignment page, but when I feed the sheet in the scanner, I get an error message that says alignment page not detected.

Try to disconnect the power cable from the back of the unit and reconnect it after few secs. The alingment will start itself. Complete the alingment once.

I have an hp officejet j5780 all in one and am struggling to get it setup for the 1st time. Installed cartridges & following the alignment procedures. 1st part where it prints from the bottom tray is fine...

Normal 0 Normal 0 Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

My HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One keeps giving me the error message - Scanner failure - Turn power off then on. Turning power off then on, even disconnecting power cord, repeatedly does not solve problem.

Our HP Officejet L7780 displays the "Align Printer" message and then does it automatically wasting several sheets of paper aligning, then the next time we print a page the same message comes back. Is there a way to turn off the "align Printer" message. It is printing ok otherwise.

Align page message

I have an OfficeJet 5780 and I have to do the alignment also. The allignment page it prints should have instructions on it. Just put it in the scanner and press "Enter". It needs to scan it to align the print heads.

This is from the manual on their website:

The HP Officejet prompts you to align cartridges every time you install or
replace a print cartridge. Aligning the cartridges ensures high-quality output.
To align the print cartridges when prompted:
1 Press Enter on the front panel.
An align cartridges (test pattern) page prints.
2 Load the align cartridges page face down in the ADF between the paperwidth
guides and press the Enter button again.
3 Recycle or discard the page.

Crooked Excel Spreadsheet

I also had this problem, through trial and error I found that if you go into File, Page setup in excel then the Page tab, make sure the print quality is set to 600 dpi. Once I did that it printed correctly.
