Re: pda wont start up properly

If you have the symbol mc70 try this:

you need to check the memory
1. press the start menu
2. press the program or settings
3. press the memory program
4. see what is running
5. press stop all
this should free up memory in the symbol.
one thing about these symbols it doesn't have alot of memory in it to run good. hope this will help you out. just let me know if iot helped you.

Tungsten E: difficulty starting and turning off

PalmOne had a manufacturing issue in the Tungsten E and E2 PDA versions.

Bottom line is the On/Off switch is not properly soldered (enough soldering amount) so is easy that breaks the soldering joint of the switch to the main board.

The repair requires to open the PDA, remove very carefully the mainboard, and put straight (vertical) and re-solder the switch again.

It is needed a minimum of tools for it (soldering iron, torx screwdriver, wire soldering, plastic pry tool), and some skills and experience in fixing electronics.

Also, you can get with a radio or TV repair techniocian, and ask specifically to resolder such On/Off switch.

Best regards,

Support for Asus A636

There is a problem with the battery cover switch. You should use a contact cleaning liquid spray or, if you are good in hardware, you can open up the PDA and solder a small capacitor in parallel with the switch. I did that yesterday, then I started iGO 2006 Plus and pressed several buttons. Everything was great, but I wasn't satisfied yet. I switched the hold button and started to hit the PDA dropped it on the table etc. When I had switched the button to unhold, surprise... the software was running. Problem solved! I have called a friend of mine and already modified his unit too.
Cheers and good luck!

My hp rx1950 won't turn on after a while

There could be a piece of software running that is locking up the device. You might want to check for updates to your PDA and any software you have installed on it. If that doesn't work try doing a hard reset, which will erase everything, then reinstall one application per day to see if the problem pops up after one of the applications is installed. If that doesn't work, it could be hardware issue, if there is an extra storage device in it pull it out and see what it does. You will have to troubleshoot. Try different things and see what the result is, eventually you'll be able to narrow it down.

Sudden death of Dell Axim X30

Hello edil, This sounds like a corrupted ROM file. The ROM stores all your operating system and pda's firmware alltogheter. If it becomes severely corrupt the pda doesn't boot properly or doesn't work at all. This appears like a fixable problem however you will need to have it fixed in a service center, because they need to acces your device's bootloader or rewrite it using some special hardware, then they will rewrite the memory with a fresh rom file. This will have you device up and working. However please avoid to send it to dell as this will get expensive. Most pda services are able to do this and the generic ones will do it cheaper. Try to look for a cheaper, generic "pda service" center. Hope it helps.

Pocket loox t830

I had this problem. Only solution is a full Hard Reset which is a combination of Power Switch Photo Switch and Reset Switch. BUT you will loose everything on the PDA.

Changing the language

Hi, Pocket PC's have Windows OS installed on them. As with computers, you woun't find any option to change the language of the operating system. Your computer comes with english Windows, and however you try, it woun't be an option to change the language of the whole OS. It is the same with PDA's. But even harder than that, each PDA comes with a specific Windows, altrought it is the same version to other PDA's it has some specific things to each model. You can't install a Windows made for HP Ipaq to a Dell PDA because it will simply not work. Also, the language wich is skipped with a PDA is not to be changed. The producing company will consider this ilegal in some cases. I don't know why but they simply woun't want to change the language for you. However, there some triks to do that your self. To change a language means to change the whole operating system installed in the ROM memory. But like I said, the producers woun't simply allow that, and when you will try to install a diferent language ROM on the PDA it will give you some errors. I know of some ways to deal with this, but it works only for HP PDA's. It will be risky to try it on your own PDA. Also it is a fairly complicated process, involving hexazecimal editing and decompiling a ROM image. The simplest thing you can do is to go to a service center (other that viewsonic's one or major service facilities) and ask them to do that for you.
