CASIO PAG-40 Keeps good time but buttons stopped working

Hi--I have a CASIO Pathfinder PAG-40 (Triple sensor) watch, module number 2271. Very recently all of the buttons stopped working. It is stuck in the timekeeping mode but I cannot get it to leave that mode or even turn the light on. I wasn't able to find any similar problem on line. Thanks.

Open the backside.
probably the light switch contact at the six side of the watch (attached to the steel mainframe) may have contact with the electronic cirquit

Fixed for me! This was tricky to see. A small flat screwdriver to bend the contact away from the electronic circuit solved the problem.

I had the same problem after taking the watch in for battery replacement. I found that the back cover screws were too tight. I backed them out 1/4 turn at a time until the buttons started working again. Tightened 1/16th of a turn until the buttons stopped functioning, then backed off to ensure good torque yet still have the button operation.

I was wondering if anyone can help me out. The light no longer works, Could it be one of the batteries that went dead again? I changed them but still no luck -- does anyone else have this problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Casio PAG 40 I took it apart to replace bateries and a spring came out and I don't know where it goes. The 2 gold ones are in place.

It's probably the small spring which makes electrical contact between the watch aluminum back and the outer housing, presumably to provide an electrical ground connection to the outside triple sensor. I've attached a photo with the location indicated by the yellow circle and arrow. It goes in the little hole and will fall out if you're not careful.11_14_2012_6_41_27_pm.jpg

When using the barometer or altimeter on my my pag 40 - 2271 it shows err. How do I fix it? Do you know what page in the users guide shows how or gives directions on how to fix?

Same problem with my SPF-40, module 2273, after a small helical compression spring, silver color, fell out. I could not determine where it is suppose to be located. It could be the barometric reference spring for sensing the barometric pressure.

How to adjust the time on a CASIO W-59 watch

Hi Harry,

Your Module number is 2271.
1. To set the time, press and hold button A (left top) until Seconds digits start to flash.
2. Press button D (lower left) to move flashing in the following sequence to change other setting:
Seconds >> Hour >> Minutes >> 12/24 Hour Format >> Year >> Month >> Day >> (Then back to Seconds)
3. While a setting is flashing, use E (+) (bottom right) and B (-) (top right) to change it.
Note: When in the 12/24 Hour Mode, use E and B to toggle between 12-Hour and 24-Hour Mode.
4. Press buton A to exit setting screen.
Your time should now be set.

You may also download a manual for watch/Module number:
http://pathfinder.casio.com/resource/manuals/module_2271.pdf

This should give you all the info you need to operate all the functions of your watch. Thanks.

Regards, Bill

mcdevito75 here, I'm figureing you"ve changed the battery, Pressing the MODE button should re-start your watch. If you didn"t change the battery and your watch just stopped, try pressing the MODE or any button to re-start the watch. If nothing, change the battery and repeat the above instructions.

Problem with casio sea-pathfinder watch

For all Casio watches go to www.casio.com select "Support" then "Manuals" then "Watches".
You will then be able to enter the 4 digit number in the square box to get the manual for your watch or module inside is actually what the instructions refer to.

The problem of changing functions automatically is called "Auto Display" and can be stopped and started in Sea-Pathfinder SPF-40 (modue 2273) by pressing the bottom left button for 3 seconds.
