I have no idea on what they would charge to fix your set. Due to the fact that its an LCD its probaly going to be a little pricey. If you would like a service manual for your set you can get one at the following link for 10.99. They will email it to you if you click on the contact link and provide your email address. They will also give you unlimited Chat support to help you diagnose your set. You may be able to prevent the service man from taking advantage of you, If you know whats wrong with it before hand. Hope it helps heres the link.

Horizontal blue line at bottom of my screen, on my 60 inch lcd wega, was about 2 inches from bottom of tv now it's like 3 inches from bottom, blue line is about 2" high all the way from left to right...

The "optical block" is bad. There are currently 3 settled class actions against sony for other models with the same problem, If memory serves me correct, your model is in an ongoing class action. If you google Sony LCD class action suit. you will find lots of info. www, and support has a few articles as well. It is a 900.00 part, so, not really cost effective to repair. Post a comment for me tomorrow and I will paste what links I have on this issue to this post. There in my other PC at my office. Hope this helps

Sony 60" LCD projection TV has yellow screen discoloration

It sounds like you have a bad Blue Polarizer in the light path. I'm sorry but that is something you will have to contact a service center for. It's not something you'll be able to do yourself, I'm sorry, but that's the best advice I can give you.

Sony 60" LCD projection TV has yellow screen discoloration

I would suggest to try to get this TV fix while still under warranty. Normally the manufacturers give one year.
In regards to the discoloration, there is not much you do but to let the Sony authorized repair center knows about it so they can fix it. Ask them if their work is guarantee as well for how long.
Good Luck.

Blue discoloration

I have replaced alot of these light engines for this problem. Yesterday I received a letter from Sony saying they are going to give an additional warranty to have the optics replaced. I just checked, your model is one of them and Sony is replacing the optic block under an extended warranty, regardless of the purchase date, until the end of October 2008. Contact Sony for an Authorized Service Center in your area or go to this site to read about it: Have this repair done on your set and it should save you about $1300.00 to $1500.00 on the repair. Hope this helps.
