Question about LG Washing Machines
The typical response for the LE error is as follows, but I've added more at the end, which may be the case for you.
First try unplugging the machine for a few minutes and then retry a cycle. If you still get the LE error:
The Hall sensor (part number 6501KW2001A) has failed. The hall sensor is rather easy to replace, and is covered by a seven year part warranty (in the US). Take the back cover off. Take the big bolt off and remove the motor rotor. Remove the bolts holding the motor windings. Remove the electric plug on the sensor and unclip it from the motor winding. Snap new sensor on and reassemble. Usually takes under a half hour. On a difficulty scale of 1 - 10, it might rate a 4. This should be a Fix-Ya for your machine, and at basically no cost!
In the US, find a service provider using your zip code at http://us.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp or call LG at 800-243-0000 800-243-0000
Special case: The shaft may have come loose from the three arms which drive the inner drum. You would know this rather quickly if, when you attempt to unscrew the bolt on the back of the motor, you will be unable to do so. If you are unlucky enough to have encountered this situation, you will have to use an angle grinder to cut the head off the bolt to remove the two parts of the motor. Now, basically you will have to remove the washer drum (out the front of the washer) and seperate the two parts of the outer drum, allowing you to remove the inner drum. Remove the six bolts holding the three arms of the "spider" drive off the back of the inner drum (if they don't come off, you need to replace the entire inner drum, which comes with the spider attached) and replace the "spider" and the back bolt with new ones. It's a lot of work. Should take at least 2 hours, and I'd rate it an 8 on a 1 - 10 difficulty scale.
