Thanks for the attention and input.

Lamp has little over 500 hours (much lower than the specified lifetime). Made sure the lamp cover screws are tight.

Maybe I'll give it a try and change the lamp anyway.

    Thanks again.

It actually seems to work the other way around, which might indicate a thermostat problem.

It shuts off after 2.5 minutes and the fan continues to cool dowon the unit. However, if I power the thing back up as soon as the fan stops, it works fine (even for long hours). Kind of not getting warm enough in the first place...

    Go figure.

My PT-AX100U has the same problem. Repeatedly changes from green light and working to yellow light with lamp off.

Started about 14months after purchase. Local shop diagnosed as bad power supply but did not have them do repairs. Still looking for other possible solutions.

Just posted today as guest but wanted to add a fact that I forgot to include.

The problem started with original bulb and after changing the lamp the problem still continued. New bulb has maybe 400 hours on it and still having the problem.

Wanted to post a solution to this problem. Panasonic tech support says the iris is the problem. Upon researching this tidbit, I found this site:

There is much info here on iris problems. I fixed mine with a q-tip with WD40 to lightly lube the iris mechanism.

    Hope this helps someone.....

Sanyo PLC-XU48 used in church worship center. Attempts to powers up, light goes green, but then begins to blink red and enter into shut-off mode. No other warning lights illumined.

My projector has the same problem. About 900 hours on the second bulb. It shuts off repeatedly. I have been living with restarting it until it stays lit, but now it no matter how many times I restart it, it goes out.

Have you tried looking to see if the lamp has expired? Or could simply be cause by a faulty power supply unit?

MMM yea I hate the thought of having to replace bulbs lol, have you checked the fan? Because if its going for 2.5 min and the fan is not working properly, the thermostat will shut the system down so it wont overheat.

Shuts off after approximately 2 minutes

I have exact same problem. According to the manual its time to replace the bulb. But when I check the runtime on the bulb it shows 326 H. I am not certain if this is the remaing hours on the bulb or the usage to date hours.

I would appreciate anyone commenting and recommending a solution.

Help me!!!!

Hello folks! I bought my unit on 11/2006. After 1532 lamp hours on eco-mode, my unit would start shutting off after just 2-3 minutes. Same problems you guys are having. Based on the comments I've received from the TECH guy where I purchased the unit, it appears that these units have IRIS problems. Here's how you can tell if its an IRIS problem...according to the TECH guy:

1. Get the unit powered up as usual.
2. Wait until its projecting enough light to see a menu on the screen.
3. Using the remote control, PRESS the "POWER" button again to see the power off confirmation screen, then PRESS the ARROW keys in the following order: RIGHT, UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, then PRESS ENTER.
4. The EXT OPTION menu should then be displayed.
5. SELECT the "SELF CHECK" option using the arrow keys.
6. Look for the word "IRIS. If that word or any word on that line appears in "RED" color, then the IRIS is faulty and needs to be replaced.
I just called Panasonic's Service dept. and they gave me a CASE NUMBER and asked me to FAX my original INVOICE to them. She told me they are going to review my claim and see if they can provide assistance or whatever. Apparently...Panasonic knows of this problem according to the TECH guy at the place where I bought my unit in late 2006. Good luck! Steve 717-891-2062
