Re: acer aspire quad 5100

Let me know what model you have like acer aspire m6220. This should be located near yor serial number. The model you listed is not listed. When I receive the model number I need I can tell you what graphics card you need. Please don't rate me untill I have the right model and answered your question.

Compatible video cards for E661GXM

Hello there, I am the computer technician that will be assisting you today. My name is Norman-Wynne Damstra.

Welcome to Fixya, Barb Holder.

Your Acer computer supports all graphics cards that use the AGPX8 Expansion slot.

The AGPX8 expansion slot is identified as it has a clip at one end of the slot.
Nvidia made graphics cards around the 6600GT that feature the AGPX8 slot.

All you need to do is find a graphics card that supports AGPX8.

Take care!

Installing new graphics card need to know which one I need

I'm sorry but you won't get any decent graphic card for this PC. There is integrated intel graphic card and only expansion slots are PCI.
Currently produced cards are mostly PCI-E, you may find some older with AGP however they are rare.

Upgrade needed?

Well, i took a look whaats on your Acer, you definetly need to upgrade your graphic card, and u need a lot more memory.
The graphic card u need is an APG 8X card, make sure that the new graphic card is a fast one coz your processor is a sempon, its like an intel celeron, not realy made for games.
The momory you have is 512mb, you have 2 slots and you can max have 2gb, i sugest you buy 2x1gb sticks, the memorytype is 184 Pin DIMMs 400MHz.

Here is the details for your pc:

Good luck

I have jus brought a acer aspire m5100 it has an hdmi output but i dnt know how to activate it can u help thanks

I have just spoken with Acer Support, and where M5100's have dedicated graphics cards, this disables the onboard graphics including the HDMI.

The onl way to eabl the HDMI is to remove the dedicated graphics card, and revert to shared graphics which will enable HDMI. The problem with this, according to the support technician, is that it will slow the computer down considerably.

Why the hell do Acer do this? They must know this is an issue in the first place; absolute idiots.
