Re: compfused

You need to be logged onto the computer as administrator.

Go into control panel, then user accounts. Find your account and see if it says limited user or administrator. If is says limited, then there has to be an admin account, you'll have to log into that one.

How do I reset my password on m panasonic toughbook cf29

The boot-up passwords are normally set by the computer's BIOS. So a reset of the BIOS is normally performed in these cases. It requires opening your laptop's case, and removing not only the Big battery, but the tiny dime-sized battery on the motherboard. It's used to maintain BIOS settings and the Date/Time. Removing this battery will cause the custom settings to be wiped, and putting the battery back in will cause the default factory settings to be restored.

If you're talking about your windows password, it requires using software to crack your copy of windows. Which violates this site's rules.

Cant update anything

You may be infected with a virus. THe conficker is the latest threat and it prevents you from accessing AV sites. Symantec has a removal tool for the conficker (aka downadup). You need somebody to put it on a CD, and then run the CD on your machine

I want to make up date for my symantic antivirus and idonot know how please help me thanks

Assuming you cannot access the internet with the computer in question (if you can, open Symantec and find "Update".

Here is the link to the area of Symantec to get the latest virus definition file;
Get the correct signature file based on your program version under "Select Product" Download & transfer to the correct location within the Symantec folders (Follow instructions)

Most likely you'll need to be able to view your system files.
(For XP) Go to: Tools/ Folder Options/View/ Uncheck "Hide protected Operating system files"

Let me know if this helped you

Turns out the whole problem was related to my version of Norton (which I have run/updated without problem since 2005) suddenly becoming defective. Once I removed Norton with their remove tool on the Symantec website everything worked fine again. Thanks for your help

try to uninstall your Symantec security software and then try connecting to the internet w/o or with other kind of security software. if the error is still there then maybe your onboard networking device is not working.

I am using a Linksys Wireless -G Router 2.4 GHz. While I can access AOL it is with an unsecured connection. How can I change this to a secure connection?

Hello Aberlin746,

The most secure way to connect to the Internet would be to connect to your router via a wired connection rather than wirelessly. Wireless security is pretty easy to defeat.

That's not always an option or convenient though so, beefing up your wireless security and using a firewall (software) would be in order.

Linksys, as it happens, has tutorials on networking security. You can find them HERE.

You'll need to know how to configure your router as well (in order to implement the suggestions Linksys offers).

So, please, go HERE and choose your router's model number. You'll then be taken to a page where you will have access to downloads, FAQs and manual(s) for your router.

W/ respect to a software firewall, I've used Comodo Personal Firewall for years.
(A) It's **free**
(B) It is **very** effective
(C) It isn't a resource hog (it doesn't bog down your system) like so many firewall and antivirus products available from major manufacturers today.
(D) When you disable it, it REALLY is disabled. So, if you're having configuration problems, you don't have to uninstall the product to get your Internet access working again. (Unlike w/ firewall products from Zone Labs, Symantec's Norton line, and McAfee).
(E) When it's uninstalled, it REALLY is uninstalled. It doesn't leave a mess in its wake like the major manufacturer's products I've already mentioned.

Internet Explorer Problem

Ok. be careful on pop-ups dude especially if its unknown ones. DON'T YOU DARE OPEN THOSE or your PC will be infested of various worms and trojans. I suggest that you should scan your computer first with Antivirus software( make sure it is up-to-date) then go to this website then download Internet Explorer 7 or Mozilla FIrefox 3.0 Beta 2, these are very effective browsers that contains pop-up blockers.

Trust me!!! you don't want yourself to be left behind, are you??
