Ink cartridge carriage HP 7410

I need some help/advice on removing the ink carriage with circuit board on my HP 7410 All In One (see balow). Also is there a repair manual available.

I would greatly appreciate any information.

Thanks,
Terry

I have had the same problem regarding the puncture on the circuit board. This has happened on both our 7410's. What happens is the arm of the ink cartridge pressure spring comes loose off it's mounting and if this happens and you try to insert a new ink cartridge, the end of the arm will puncture the circuit board. To prevent this from happening again, a small spot of silicone glue should be applied to the springs mounting in two places where the little plastic extruded pieces hold the spring flatly. You will notice the base of the spring has serveral s-turns in the wire that is held in place by the two little extruded tabs.

Now as for the replacment of the circuit board, I need someones help to best describe how to remove it.

I have an error message that says to check color cart after replacing the cart. I noticed the same marks on the circuit panel as pictured but terry863. I also found a small piece of plastic that looks like it used to hold the cart spring in place in the printer.

HP has extended the warranty for some of these printers like the 7410. It's worth giving them a call. They just replaced mine without charge.

Have your serial number ready when you call HP. (800) 474-6836
Tell them you have a "broken carriage shute and print cartridge rejection".

you should be able to replace the carriage/cartridge holder with any part from the same family of printers that used the same ink cartridge #'s and those can go on ebay pretty cheap or even from finding a printer in a second hand store for umder 15 bucks. Look for any photosmart, office jet or desk jet or PSC/all iin one model that has the same type of cartridges and pull the whole printcarriage assembly from one of those, but be sure to epoxy the clip in place before installing into the printer you want to fix so that it doesn't happen to the replacement part as well. You can use this page to search for other printers that are compatible by cartridge # at hp's page yield searchhttp://www.hp.com/pageyield/en-019/yield...

I would trace the line back and put a small wire to replace the broken path.

Ink cartridge doesn't move - can't replace cartridge - the machine just doesn't want to start.

I had a similar problem and called HP. The tray under the ink cartridge wouldn't retract, the carriage would try to move then stop, and I couldn't move the carriage or lower ink tray by hand and couldn't get my ink cartridges out. They indicated there was a malfunction and suggested I take it in for repairs or upgrade to a new printer. I decided to buy a refurbished machine for less money then I think they would charge for repairs.

I have an HP Officejet 7410 All-in-One and I'm getting the following Error: Carriage Jam Open door, clear carriage jam and then press OK to continue. Nothing is working. Any suggestion?

Hello there
You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Hp printer will not detect new ink cartridge has been installed. Thought it was the cartridge, bought a new one and it still says it needs replaced.

I have had similar problem with my HP C6180. Over several months I have replaced Lt. Magenta at least 6 times. Finally I got a "Cannot Print" message after the 6th full cartridge. I tried removing/replacing cartridges, doing a hard reset, and clearing the hardware failure status (press # and *, enter code 1,2,3, scroll to 'System Configuration' press OK then scroll to 'Hardware Confifuration) - all to no avail.
I decided to remove the BIOS battery. Only do this if you're ready trash your C6180 and able to buy a new printer immediately! Remove 2 the black screws holding the left side panel in place and remove it to reveal the circuit board. Remove 5 silver screws securing the circuit board, and carefully tilt it up. On the back side, center front, is a silver 3 Volt Lithium battery; remove it. Cover the printer and let stand overnight. I did this, and when I put the battery back in and powered up the printer, error messages were gone, and it printed normally. I was lucky, but if you're prepared to take a total loss on your C6180, this might just work. My theory is that the hardware "forgot" it' error message.

Color cartridge problem

Check the color side of the carriage....there is a metal piece in there that breaks free from the side and will "stab" the circuitry board that the cartridge comes in contact with...you will probably see a hole in it...I have replaced several print carriages...fairly common problem with all of the HP printers that use the 96 and 97 cartridges...hope this helps

Here's what I found when this happend on my two 7410's. Take a look at where the ink cartridge slides into it's holder. Shine a flashlight on the circuit board at the rear. You will no doubt find it has a puncture in it that breaks the little tracer wires on the board. The culpret is the tension spring arm. It likely has come off it's base support and when that happens, and you install a new cartridge, the cartridge will push the tip of the tension wire g right into the circuit board. After you fix the circuit board, apply some silicone glue to the spring base mount to hold it in place.
