What is the version of the usb port on a compaq presario 1200

Hi again, after extensively searching I believe your Laptop has a USB version 2.0.

Most PC's manufactured before 2001 were USB 1.0 and USB 1.1.

The Spec Guides for your PC indicate 2002 was the year of manufacture.

USB 2.0 is a faster USB connection than version 1.0 or 1.1. You might have trouble connecting devices that are USB 2.0 (which all new devices are now - since 2001).

To double check, use your Device Manager on the PC to look up the USB device and see what is written.

If you are using XP then do the following:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. In the Control Panel double-click the Systems icon.
  5. In the System Properties window click the Hardware tab.
  6. In the Hardware tab click the Device Manager button and you will see a list of devices.
  7. Click the + button next to the word the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
If it is USB 2.0 then it should say something like USB Enhanced or USB High Speed, this means it is USB 2.0 compatible.

I hope this helps. Please rate. Regards,

Usually on the bottom of your laptop there's a small panel with one or two small screws you can easily remove. Make sure you pull the battery and the power cord out before doing anything. Look for the small panel on the bottom and look in there for one or two small rectangular circuitboards. Most likely that's your RAM, unless it has wires connected, in which case, that's your wireless. Gently move the clips outward on either side of the memory stick and it will pop up at an angle. Gently remove it and replace. Insert the new one at an angle all the way in, then tilt it flat down so the clips hold it in place.
If nothing is on the bottom of your laptop, then the memory lives underneath the keyboard. Try the Samsung website for instructions.

Xbox live on this laptop

I assume you have a crossover ethernet cable.
put the my network places on your desktop.
right click on desktop/properties/desktop/customize desktop/tic
then on the network places icon on desktop right click/properties
right click on wireless and bridge devices
they are now sharing the same ip
be sure and remove /delete bridge when not sharing as the ip will stick forever likely.
that should do it if you need more info /open my computer and hit help and search for internet connection sharing as the firewall may need to be configured.
