Our tv was working fine one minute and the next no volume no matter what we have tried. I have tried the Global Volume Lock with no luck. I tried manual volume and no luck. Unplugged the tv no luck. My remote does not have and AV button. It does work with headphones though. Can you assist with this? I am willing to try and solution that you may send my way.
Same issue....went to bed last night Polaroid tv worked fine....woke up NO VOLUME>>>
Just finished reading other posts. Solution that has fixed my problem. Unplug power cord for 1/2 hour. Now, I have sound. That explains why my sound came back the last time. Not Global Vol. Unlock!
I have the same problem with my polaroid tv. The sound went out but I could hear it through head phones, so I got a set of computer speakers and plug them up and hide them behind the tv and it sound better than the orignal speakers did inside the tv. This solve my problem without having to buy another tv and you will never know the speakers inside the tv are not working.
Hope this helps with your problem.

Press menu, select audio, change sound effect from soft to rock or pop, sound comes back
I need to buy a TV with NO SOUND! My son has vision problems and needs a TV monitor to hook up to his magnifier! The one we have is 19" and is too small. The only way to increase magnification is to get a bigger screen. Can anyone help me out? Mandy

I disconnected my dish network receiver for 5 minutes then powered it back on and the sound came back on my tv
I tried the Global Volume Unlock, didn't work, tried unplugging it, didn't work. Now I just plugged my cheapo computer speakers into the bottom hole of the 4 input ports? on the right hand side of the tv and I have sound - yay!
I read these posts after buying my polaroid tv. One week later my volume stopped working. I guess im of to purchase new speakers. This is absurd!
I used someone else's suggestion and hooked up a cheap surround sound speaker system through the audio ports in the back of the tv. Now my sound is working; and probably sounds better than the tv did when the sound was working. I too had tried all the other suggestions, but I'm pleased that I can now get sound for the tv.
I've been reading this board for a while and wanted to pass along some info. Appears Polaroid is providing parts for sale. From what I am seeing, they have control boxes around $100. Sounds like a smokin' deal compared to some of the other places that are selling them.
Also, I think they are offering In-Home service at a flat-rate price - something like $225...

I at one time had it hooked up to surround sound and know I have taken the surround sound off but know i have no original tv volume at all no matter what I have tried please help
I seriously think that Polaroid should have recalled all of these in reading similar issues with these tv's. I hope I permanetly do not need to keep it hooked up to my stereo in order to get sound. I didn't pay all that money just so I can adlib to the tv shows.
I have the same problem. I took it off the wall planning to take apart. Then I tried the Global Vol Unlock. The sound came back on. Now, it has happened again. I feel the GVU didn't fix the original problem. I noticed that my sound went out after using the sleep timer.
my big
my big screen makes a loud buzzing noise. At first the noise would go away then no sound came out of the TV. Now the buzzing noise is high pitched and louder... this is ridiculuos money wasted when it's not even a year old
I too have the same problem. I have had my set less than two years. This set has been used very little. I paid more for this set than any other and have gotten less service. Polarioid is obviously aware of this issue and is not willing to make it right.
I have went through all steps of volume lock, unplugging, etc. I rerepeated these steps with two service techs on the phone. Nothing works. I have not tried the earphone jack but shouldn't have to. Polaroid needs to make this right if they are to remain in the TV business.
I have used the television for two months and the sound suddenly went lower and lower until it was quiet. Nothing I did worked. I think Poloroid should make this right.
WE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OUR 32' FLAT SCREEN POLOROIN HDTV. WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPEND, THE VOLUME JUST DIDNT WORK ONE MORNING. HELP..WE PAIND OVER 600.00 FOR THIS PRODUCT AND I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT NOW A DAYS THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY SPENT JUST FOR JUNK THAT WONT WORK.
I have the same problem. I purchased the tv in 2006 and for the first 6 months it was fine. Then it started making a loud buzzing sound. I would have to turn it off and back on. Now it makes the high pitch noise and turn it off and back on doesnt help anymore. Any advice short of hitting it with a hammer would really be appreciated.
Same sound issue here...Nothing but the headphone jack works. Polaroid said "go onto menus and make sure the speakers are set to on". I don't see that setting on the TV or anything about it in the manual. They did say they have an "out of warranty option" but after all I have read I think I'll take it to the only option I see which is to NEVER buy Polaroid electronics again.
no volume what so ever no matter what i have done
Bought my tv in 2006 and today (04-04-09) the sound stopped working, only thing I found that works is the suggestion of plugging in speakers ... well, it works now. But I still feel like I spent $900 for nothing! ugh
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM I AM GOING TO CONTACT EVERYONE THAT WILL LISTEN BECAUSE THIS TV SHOUD HAVE BEEN SUBJECT TO A RECALL
my problem was simular. turned my polaroid off one night woke up the next morning and NO SOUND!!! pretty mad since my warrenty expired a few weeks earleir! but i have a surround sound system luckly that seems to work out pretty well. but still id like to find a source to this problem to see if its fixable.
same exact thing here, only the headphone jack works. I have a speaker system hooked up to it now, but that doesn't even work for some reason on my PS3 games, WTF!
Last night we turned on our Polaroid 32" LCD (3yrs old) and just like most of you here, we have NO SOUND!!! I am really upset to see so many problems with this tv. We had a problem with our Sony XBR Bravia LCD & contacted them, they gave us a memory stick with the fix & we fixed it ourselves in 2 mins! Guess we'll be staying with Sony and not looking for a "deal"!
THIS IS ABSOLUTE BS! I thought I was the only one but apparently not. This should have been a recall product with this many complaints on one problem. I'm sure there's many more. Hopefully someone should contact Polaroid and we should all get some kind of fix or part of our money back!!!
Polaroid Tv's are a POS...!!
