Question about JVC GR-DA20 Camcorder

GR-DA20 Problem Hi, I have recently purchased a GR-DA20 from ASDA. Brilliant at first put soon developed geen horizontal lines on playback. I have tried using a head cleaner and this did not solve the problem. Am I doing something wrong or is it a fault with the camera? Thanks Paul

I had the same problem, just spray electronic switch cleaner onto the tape reader heads. Solved my problem first time.

are those old videos recorded from the same camera? you might need a head cleaner for your camera. Try to play the tapes in different camera for comparison test. caution: make sure that the camera's mechanism does not destroy the tape or put a line or dent on the tape's edges. I suggest you convert those videos to digital format before it's too late.

the problem is with the video head. either it's dirty or broken. if cleaning tape is not solving the problem then i fear you have to get the head changed. an expensive repair.

Horizontal snow lines on record and playback

the symptom is caused by a dirty video head. sometimes cleaning tape cannot do all the jobs, especially when the dirt is so much that any cleaning tape cannot remove it. open the cover, use a clean white paper dampened with a little alcohol. use your finger on the paper and gradually move the head drum back and forth. donot move the paper up or down. just move the drum slowly. good luck!
