Samsung s42sd-yb05clicking and no power

Samsung s42sd just died.stnd-by light blinks four times when I plug power cord.It have a relay sound clicking every 20 sec or so on PCB and main digital input board.I do have 5V stnd-by.I hear the click when the 4V from PS-ON is going on 0V for about 1 sec.I do not have any other voltage going out from PCB.

I have about 30V when the relay clicks.what exactly was supose to happen when I put PS-ON to 0V?what voltage do I have to follow to see where it stops? What other voltages I should have on PCB?I should have 12V?What voltage I need to have stnd-by light on?I do have 110V to other power board and that is working fine. The PCB that is faulty is pspf381a01a if that helps in your search. Also used on Maxent TV

I thought that the relay is NC, but after I took it out I had 14.8 ohm where the contacts were.Is that normal or I have something bad in that area? The only relay from PCB that I have is on 110VAC.Relay tested ok.

The relay was suppose to stay on longer than 1 sec?It help if I short the terminals to have it on?

  • doctorul_doc
    doctorul_doc Jan 13, 2008

Found out that 14.8ohm was from termistor paralel to relay. That relay should stay on more that one sec? When relay is off, I still have 110V after, maibe because of thermistor. Is this normal?

I was thinking about that board because the PS-ON signal is coming from there. The signal ia a short to ground on that 4V that I have for PS-ON.But I still don't know if I should have another voltages beside 5V DC and 330V DC.Is late for me to try anything now.I will continue tomorow.Thank you for your time so far.I'll let you know what I found.

This is what is happen: After I disconect all boards, I power up main power supply.Nothing happen no mather what board I connect beside the MAIN DIGITAL INPUT board BN41-00574A (if you want to google it).Like I sayd before, between power supply and main digital input I have 5V for stnd-by and 4V that activate relay on power supply when is grounded to 0V.If I disconect this 4V pin, nothing is happen. If I short 4V to ground for 1sec or 60sec, relay still activates for only 1-2sec.All this makes me to think back that power supply is faulty.

I just order the service manual to help me trace the set.It may take 24h to have it.I still don't know if I should have other voltages than 5V.I see a 12V and 6.5V going from power supply to main board where I don't have power.

  • doctorul_doc
    doctorul_doc Jan 15, 2008

Ok, and what exactly can do that IC with only 5V?It should send back to power board as a triger or that 4V going to ground is the triger?I have to know what open the power supply to release the chain power.

there are two connectors, one with pink cables and one with white cables.the pink one have:fan-d,fan-on,stb-5v,s-gnd,ps-on,d12v,s-gnd,s-gnd,yca,ycs,s-gnd,d5.3v.The white one have:s-gnd,vt,amp-gnd,amp-gnd,18v-amp,18v-amp,s-gnd,a12v,s-gnd,6.5v.That d12v and a12v are connected together. There is another pink connector going on main board from a smaller power board. That board is controlled by the relay that clicks and I have all the powers coming out from it,no mather of the relay status.I have power continuosly.I have the following pink cables: three times 5.3v, twice 12v and one 35v.

  • doctorul_doc
    doctorul_doc Jan 15, 2008

That is what I thought also.I took the relay out and tested ok.Then I put ohmmeter and I have 14.8ohm from a termistor connected paralel with relay. If I remove that termistor, yes I don't have continuity anymore. But that 14.8 ohm is the internal rezistance of termistor without load.I check online.Termistor is a SCK 206http://www.voltts.com.br/produtos/tks-te... I receive the Service Manual and I have to study when I get home.Do you whant a copy?

Is not that simple for me.The only transformer that I see for low voltage is used for the stnd 5V.The other three transformers are connected to 330V DC.I don'trealy see from where was suppose to come the rest of voltages.

skippy-That is a sticker inside of TV.The model is SP-R4232.Checking the boards models, I notice that I have diferent versions that what I was suppose to have.SMPS(main) that I have is BN96-02213A and is from HP-R4252 model. The manual said that I should have BN96-01923A.Main board that I have is BN41-00574A also from HP-R4252,and should be BN94-00669A.What is your recomandation and price.

I dont think it as an IC problem... it must be a short circuit occuring somehwere in the board.. and this is ticking is from relay which protects the circuit from the shorting..

so look out where is that bad portion of shorting.. if u r able to isolate it then i think u will get it fixed..

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jan 15, 2008

relay clicks when you connect the main board right..

so obviously ter is some kind of shorting ter in main board..

try to see it for yourself..

  • dewan nafees ahmed Jan 15, 2008

i cant do anything with the manual i think.. because this problem must be looked in personally.. since you are near the board u only must see it.. sorry sir...

Its a power problem.. Its deffinately on the sub electronic controll circuit as the set would not have even gained power if it was the main supply.. I suggest you look at defective or damaged components especially capicators.. If you have limited experience on this i recommend you take it to a technocian.. I will tryy to obtain more detailed information for you on the trouble shooting and repairs as well as other stuff that you can try..

if you are looking at the problem look at the relays and the capacitors close to them, Look at the transistors and ic last.. you can use a multi tester and see where the voltage stops, more than likely its that componet or the one before it is bad..

If a relay is tripping ceck to ensure the relay is getting power before it trips. If the relay shows contunity to input voltage but still shuts off its the relay thats bad...

Then its the IC,, did you look at contuinty of eletric flow after and before the relays ??

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 14, 2008

I dont thinnk thats normal actually , but it appers that someting is causing the relay to switch off ,, 1 sec let me do a bit of research, post back within the hour..

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 14, 2008

It appears that there is a problem with the main board itself, it could be as little as the relay, or as complicated as an ic THE POWER CONTROLL IC thats why the relay doesnt stay on long enough and the stanby light appears to be flashing when really its only gaining power and then loosing it,,

YOU GOT 3 choices,, You can 1. CHANGE THE ENITRE MAIN BOARD,,

2.) DO CONTUINITY CHECKS UNTIL YOU LOCATE THE BAD COMPONENT, REMOVE IT AND REPLACE IT

3.) YOU CAN GET A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN TO have a look at it and be able to locate and replace the component off hand..
it some cases they will recommend a complete board change ..

BTW IF ITS AN IC THE ORIGINALS ARE EXPENSIVE Substuites are cheaper... Let me know what happens ,,,

the above is based upon information given by you, research , and interperation of that data and as well the thoughts of a few qualified technicians who lives close to me..

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 15, 2008

i doubth its the power supply since its doing its job of sending the power,, If it was this there wouldnt be any power at all, there fore the problem lies in main board itself,, it trips the power supply back to off when it senses and error... i would concerate on the controll ic on that board..

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 15, 2008

well that could be a problem,, but the question is if the main board trigerts the relay to power these or is it supposed to be on all the time.. I'm betting these only get power when the tv comes out of stand by mode.. but the board isnt triggering it.. I wounder..You will be at a better temperment to answer that question when you get the manual,, But i'm still sticking with the problem is on the main board with the controll IC..

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 15, 2008

as i said when ou get the service manual it would be clearer,,, ARE THE 4 and 5 the only wires vonnecting to the main board or is there another connector?

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 15, 2008

I dont think that other board is supposed to contuiouslty get power,, Trace it back to the relay and verify that that relay is clicking on as its plugged in,, unless that board is the standbyboard in which case it is actually supposed to have power when its plugged in and the relay is to trigger anoter component.,.

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 15, 2008

if you canupload it it will greatly be appreciated.. you can use radipshare and a free account thn post the link here ..

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 15, 2008

look at the service manual and see what trips the relay, trace for contuinity on that circuit,, Does it lead back to an ic ?

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 15, 2008

Any luck yet with the service manual ?

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 15, 2008

Well from what other technicians have said to me,, they mostly believe that its on the main board ,, and think you should look at the controll ic, as this ic will tell the relays when to trip and send the power,, currently the relay is tripping on and off... thats why the standby light is blinking, but if you wish to ensure the power supply is working propperly first i think you should cause something would have had to damage the ic (if it is the ic)

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 16, 2008

Then lets listen to the manual and change the power board,, Or do you think you can keep a contunity test on it and see why it aint working,, I suggest your work your way fron the back this time.. Connect your grount lead, and use the positive from the 6v back to the source of the 6v, It should lead to a major module,, thats proberally why none of the outs are getting powered

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 16, 2008

ahh maybe you got a referbirshed tv there ??

anyway I'm sure there is something to send the output voltage to the relative parts, unless its a multi transforemer, try checking it or are there other transformers, Does one trip the other with a relay ?

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 16, 2008

    its called the rectifyier

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 16, 2008

does the transformer have multiple outputs, can you upload a pic of this board of a diagriam that the manual has ?

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 16, 2008

I googled it, i suggest you change it...the board has components that are subdefective, meaning you cant analyse them with contunity test,, you need specialied equiptment, a simple thing as a cracked solder changes the entire operation of the board..

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 16, 2008

The one you currently have a substitute and is cheaper than the original,,, MY ADVISE IS GO CHEAP..

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 18, 2008

    Hey any luck yet ?

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jan 18, 2008

    ok man i'll be waiting

It came on when I brought it home and worked for a couple weeks. Then just the other day it stopped working. When you hit the power button the light around it blinks four times and then you here a clicking sound. TV does not come on. Took the back panel off and I don't see any damaged caps or fuses. b435b80e-6d09-419f-a021-9b8a430e0a74.jpg

Samsung model LNS4051DX/XAA won't turn on, just clicks

THE PROBLEM IS Faulty parts on PS board , bad press for Samsung

Because the Samsung LNS4051D would not turn on and the power LED would blink 4 times and the relay would click and this would repeat again and again. I replaced power supply board parts CM806, 811, 812 & 817, all 1000 uf 10v capacitors, three had their tops bulged up slightly that I missed on initial visual inspection. After seeing the reports of problems with these caps on http://www.fixya.com/support/t1336881-will_not_turn_or_off , I replaced them with Radio Shack part 272-1032, 1000 uf, 35v. They are slightly bigger, but fit OK. TV is working fine now. Cost was 4 x $1.59 = $6.36 plus the time. I saved between $100 to 300 in the process of either replacing the board or getting the unit serviced.

Sony kv32fs16 problem

The STANDBY light is flashing on the television and there is no picture or sound. Solution
sp.gif sp.gif The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
  1. Turn off the television. IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
  2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
  3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
  5. Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
