ECS 945G-M3 PC build problems

My son is building a PC using this motherboard, Celeron D (2 GHz)processor, 2 sticks of Kingston 667 1Gb RAM, PSU is a Colors 450W unit . Its all together and connected (correctly as far as I can tell). He now wants to install the os but on power up, while the motherboard, front panel and fans all fire up fine there is a brief blink of LEDs on the monitor and keyboard which then go back to standby. It did take a few goes to get it to fire up as far as it has got so far and I do. The BIOS WP jumper is Open. Another oddity is that when powered up it causes interference on AM radio reception......

Apparently this a common problem with these motherboards - if you catch it in time you can get a warranty replacement for a board with this problem. We've put a new one in now and it works just fine.

I am having similar problem, I bought new ECS 945GCT-M/1333 motherboard with Intel E6550 processor and VGA connector connected to Monitor. I am trying to turn it on with minimal configuratio, CPU, 2GB Corsair 6400 DDR2 memory, to see if comes up with BIOS. When I turn power ON, CPU fan starts, but nothing else, no beeps on speaker, no BIOS display on monitor. I tried two different motherboards, two processors, and two memory sets, same thing happens, any idea why? It is connected to ATX power supply 24 pin connector, no aux12V connector connected.

Reading your manual: http://download.asrock.com/manual/P4i45GV%20R3.0.pdf

On page 23, In bios, select 'advanced' menu item from top, then second option below should be 'OnBoard VGA Share Memory' - set to 64MB.

IF the computer starts up, runs smoothly for up to 5 minutes, then shuts down, it might be a heat problem. Firstly disconnect all fans, then using a blower, blow out all the dust inside the computer. switch on and test. Reply if problem is solved or not.

I have motherboard i845G with intel chipset i845GL , processor is Intel celeron@1800 MHZ. Ram is DDR SD256 MB Ram. Can I upgrade my RAM to DDR 2 1GB RAM.

No each type of ram is different, it wouldn't even fit in the slots, nevermind use it. To upgrade to a different type of ram you'll need to get a new motherboard. Unfortunately there aren't many motherboards that'll take your processor any more, unless maybe if you try to get a second hand one.

Here's a link to one, there may be a few more available elsewhere though
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/179185

If I were you I'd think about building/buying one with a newer processor. If you decided to build one yourself, then you could get a new motherboard, ddr2 ram and a new cpu for about £150 and use the other components from your present system ie. case, dvd drives, hard drives, although you may have to get a new power supply if your current one can't supply enough power, that would add another £50 for a decent reliable one, go for a decent make like antec or ocz

Obviously I'm in England so it may be cheaper or more expensive depending on where you live. The links below are for an example of what you could get if you decided to build a new one.

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/245670 - Antec 400w psu £47.43 may not be needed though

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/200938 - E5500 2.8Ghz dual core processor £49.40

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/168935 -Asus P5KPL-AM EPU motherboard £31.98

Just a follow question regarding ecs 945g-m3 motherboard.. is this compatible for core 2 duo processor with 45nm technology like Intel E7500 (2.93G) 3mb 1066fsb C2D.

According to the ECS website, it should support the 1066 FSB C2D, however it mentioned it's on the 65nm technology. Latest processor support shows for the E6420. So, I doubt it would take the 7500...

What motherboad is installed in an Emachine W3507 Desktop PC

The motherboard is a Socket 775 board originally manufactured by Elite Group (better known as ECS). When placed into this E-Machine, very few changes were actually made to the retail version of the 945G-M3 motherboard. This motherboard was built with upgrading in mind. It supports almost every Celeron D, Pentium 4 and Pentium D processor on the market.

I would like to sapier vhich processor's are compattibble with my motherboard ECS P4M800-M (3 PCI, 1 AGP, 1 CNR, 2 DDR DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN)

Well there are probably hundreds of CPU's compatible with your motherboard. What you need to know is the kind of socket it has.
The most common are AM2(dualcore) and AM2+(quadcore) sockets.
You can just try some sites that let you build your own pc. if you then submit your motherboard there, in the next step you will get a list of ONLY cpu's that are compatible. But if you find one, you should still check.

You can find hundreds of sites just by googling "build costum pc" or something like that.

I hope this helps,
Yannick
