SATA Drivers for Hitachi HDD

I have just purchased a GeForce6100SM-M Mobo to build my own spec computer. On loading Win XP Pro from the CD it does not recognise the new SATA HDD, I believe that this is because winXP does not have the drivers for the SATA Drive. I am told to copy the SATA Drivers from the motherboard CD to a floppy and then load them from there. My problem is that I do not know where to look for them on the Mobo CD. I can find all the various files on the CD but I do not know what the ones I want are called. Can you help please. DaffyD.

Is there a BIOS setting to temporarily put the SATA controller into legacy mode? XP would then think it's an IDE drive. Then, after installing XP, install the drivers from the motherboard CD, then go back into the BIOS and turn off legacy mode.

Set up did not find any hard disk drivers installed on computer

Your notebook has SATA hdd. Got into the bios (keep pressing F2 key on startup) then in the bios screen find HDD and press enter. Select IDE mode. Press f10 to save changes and exit. When this is done install XP.
Alternatively connect external usb floppy drive and unzip sata drivers into that. When booting from xp cd press f6 to load drivers.Follow onscreen instructions to load drivers and continue xp installation.
Please let me know if issue not solved for futher ts steps.

Instal xp pro on sata drive

Either a) get your hands on an XP Pro SP2 CD, b) press F6 to load the proper SATA drivers when prompted (drivers located at: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNFZ283BN&upd_id=2769&os_id=29), or c) build your own bootable XP Pro CD with the SATA drivers already slipstreamed into it by following the directions at http://maxeasyguide.blogspot.com/2008/04/preparations-for-winxp-installation-cd.html.

Asus P4S800D-X mobo and sata hdd problem

I believe you need to load in the SiS 180 RAID controller for this MOBO during the Windows Install.

Do this by loading the driver onto a floppy and pressing F6 when told to do so by the windows install.

Raid problem

Windows XP does not support SATA you need to load the SATA drivers from the motherboard manuf. You should have a cd for RAID/SATA drivers. When you boot off the XP CD it give you an option to load third party drivers watch at the bottom of the screen. When you see this message you can insert the CD that contains the drivers it is looking for the you should be able to load Windows XP.
I hope this help. Please rate.

Hanging on detection of drive when installing Windows XP

Installing Windows XP on a SATA hard drive is not a straight-forward task as Windows XP does not recognize the SATA drive. In order to install operating systems such as Windows XP on SATA drives, the latest SATA drivers are required.Download SATA drivers for the motherboard from the website and integrate them with the XP installation CD using software such as nLite. SATA drivers can also be installed as third party drivers; you will be prompted during the installation process. Without proper SATA drivers, installing Windows XP on a SATA hard drive is not possible as SATA mode would have to be disabled in the BIOS to continue with the installation.
Installing Windows XP on a Serial ATA hard drive is not an easy task, because the system does not recognize SATA drivers at startup. Windows XP Pro SP2 fares a little better with SATA drivers, but here is what can be done in cases where the driver is not recognized.

Failing install of PCI SATA Drive

You need to load the SATA Controller driver for the XP install to access the HDD.

The driver will need to be downloaded and extracted to a floppy diskette, then loaded during the XP install.

If your system doesn't have a floppy drive, you'll either need a USB floppy drive or create a slipstreamed XP CD with the driver added to the CD.

Kaiwah, You never said how old the MB is, but it looks like the onboard video is bad. If it is still under warranty have them fix it. If not go out and get a new board. I have seen yours for about less than $100.00 bucks
