Question about Panasonic AG-DP800H Camcorder

Lines in AG-dp800h

Lines appear on the view finder when the camera is switched on. Before I begin to record I have to turn the camera on for about 15 minutes then the lines disappear. A technician told me it may be that the pulse power board may need replacing. Is he correct or is there another solution. I searched online for this board but cannot find it. If you can locate it please let me know the part number so that I can have this problem solved.

AG-dp800h I cannot ask for a replacement. This is not a new camera. I still need to know how to get rid of horizontal lines. This solution given still does not tell me the part be it capacitor, diode, or any item that may be contributing to this problem. Is there a part of this camera called the power pulse board? Can this be replaced. My camera is not so new. AG-dp800h.

I bought mine off ebay for 500.00 mint condition and had the same problem. Repairman said all capacitors were leaking necessitating $2k worth of repairs.

    • I had the same problem..............I was told the camcorder need new capacitors..I had about 16 replaced at the cost of $300. It was well worth it..The tech (does ALL of my work) says the soonerr you replace the faulty capacitors the better.

The cause of the horizontal lines on the AGDP800 camcorder are the Buffer Opamps that drive the reference for the three AtoD converters. Replacing C3703,C3706, and C3709 will normally stop it. However, the design is very susceptible to the characteristic of the capacitors (which are located right at the output of the Opamps). The source of the "lines" is actually a high frequency oscillation caused by the feedback mechanism used for the Opamps unity gain follower configuration. The ideal solution would be to place a small resistor (about 200 ohms) in series with the output of the opamps before the caps. This would isolate the capacitor from the feedback mechanism. I haven't done this for a supercam, but I have for similiar circuits.
I fixed a supercam with this problem and actually found that the capacitors that I replaced checked fine at audio frequencies. I consider this a design error. I can't believe that it is necessary to replace ALL the caps in other circuits as many suggest.

In further analysis of the replaced caps in the Supercam, it was found that they have an increase of ESR (equiv series resistance) of several orders of magnitude of a "good" cap. I measured an ESR of several hundred ohms at 1kHz. The actual Capacitance didn't appear to be changed. This high ESR is an explanation of the problems. It looks like a replacement of the caps is necessary.

Hello all!!

I found the solution!!

3 electro chemical capacity in the 3700 series on the camera head board.

change the chemical rear the DAC and above the ADC for process digital signal.

The name of the capacity: c3 c6 c9 in the 3700 section on process board.

The capacity is a part of filter the reference signal out of the DAC for ADC reference for ic1 ic2 ic3...
If the capacity is dead a sinusoidal signal appear for the red blue and green reference voltage and the result is a parasit signal into all camera.
You can measure a 50khz signal on the composite video signal.

Best regards

Lines in the viewfinder of the supercam until it's warmed up is an indication of defective surface mount electrolytic capacitors on the video board in the camera. I have done several.

    $2000 seems high - I generally can re-cap one for under $1000.

The problem i m having with my camcorder is when i want to record film screen goes blank but i can watch my previous recorded videos

Look in the view finder when recording instead of the screen. if you see the image there then the unit is probably set to look through there. Many of the new units dont' have a full view finder to lens item they actually have a small lcd screen inside the view finder. Check your options for recording.

Also if the view finder is tilted you need to close that before usign the lcd.

The image will not appear simultaneously on the LCD

monitor and the viewfinder. It will appear in the

viewfinder when the LCD monitor is in the lock position,

and it will appear on the LCD monitor when fully

Lines are coming up on the screen, but we have checked the viewfinder etc

Sorry cant fix this for you, but can give you some info....!

I have the same camera, and must say i love it.

But the problems you are having (and myself) since last may are due to a capacitor fault, somewhere inside.

Parts are cheap to replace (about £0.20) per blown capacitor... The cost comes from the labour charged for finding these tricky little devils!

Lines in AG-dp800h

What ever the reason for the problem- generally speaking getting a camera repaired is a no no
Like many small electronic items they are made in such a way that human intervention is not possible.
The only recommendation is to contact the the vendor for replacement if still under warranty or manufacturer if out side
From time to time there are issue with certain components- where a free replacement may be forthcoming.
