Question about LaCie 500GB d2 Quadra 500 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive
I tried to use the LaCie d2 Quadra as a sort of 'jump drive'
between my friend's Mac and my PC. Nada, zip, bupkis... The "Safely
Remove Hardware" window sees it there but that's all. Can't access it
to transfer files and I certainly don't want to mess it up so it won't
work on my friend's MAC.
You need to make sure the drive is formatted for the PC. The Mac will read and write to a FAT32 partition, but the PC cannot see a Mac formatted drive as you have seen.
The only problem is that there is a 32Gb limit per partition for FAT32 drives.
It's not ideal but it's the best you can do easily.
