i'm really getting annoyed by what is happening to my laptop.. anyway, my os is XP and my Acer is 5570..before, i wasn't experiencing any problem with my orbicam until the other day... it kept saying that another application might be using it but (as far as i know) there is no application open and i can't think of another application that might use it... the thing that pisses me off is that it reconnects by itself and then the beeping sound is continuous(like the sound when a flash drive is found and then removed... and that's for many times.!) I've tried to look for forums to help mw with this problem but as for now there is still no reply from them.. back to what i was explaining, there is another pop up window and in the title bar it says that "Sign in with Windows Live ID." I never get those before so now i'm wondering if this is done by a malware or something.. please help me.! i'm begging.! i don't know what to do when it comes to something like this...

** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.
If that does not work then do this:
Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install or Guides and Manuals if needing Orbicam instructions - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility
OK, your problem is not software related. I have visited this page and around 10 others, and done everything to find a solution. Well it has worked for me, and I am taking my laptop to ACER soon as i have found out the problem. Open your Acer Orbicam application and while it says camera not found or whatever grip your camera tight as if trying to close the casing. Twist it both clockwise and anticlockwise and try to nudge it right and left. I believe by carrying it in our backpacks or something the camera messes up with the pressure of other items. That i think is the reason why with their new laptops ACER has discontinued the swivel cam, the new series has fixed cams. So, try this fix and I think it should work becase I had the same problem and it worked. And after that if you still have the warranty go and get it fixed by ACER.
Best of Luck!
It sounds like windows Live messenger is trying to get you to sign in. If this is not a program you use (for internet chat) then uninstall it. If you do use it, sign in.
It is possible that Messenger is attempting to use the camera which is causing your problem.
Hey guys,
So I've been working on this problem for a year now. The connect/disconnect noise was awful. This is what I found
out. Took the damn thing apart. Turns out that the wires that connect
the orbicam to the internal port (which is near the power button,
underneathe) were FAULTY!
When I moved the wires even just slightly, it made the noise, but when
I kept them still, and touched the connections, it was fine.
So I took the wires out completely, with both connectors, ordered a new
set (industry standard), installed them, and I no longer have the
problem.
It would appear that Acer used **** wires or didn't assemble them
properly in the first place, because too many folks are having this
problem. Even with the Orbicam ceasing to work after only a short
time. I assume it's the same issue.
My laptop is Acer Aspire 5672, which I bought 2 years ago in US. I had the same problem whith Acer's camera and I was searching internet all the time to fix it, but I didnt find any answers - only questions as yours ;)
Notice, when you move the camera sometimes you hear the noise of plugging the device. Try to use your imagination - THAT PROBLEM IS NOT CONNECTED WITH SOME SOFTWARE ISSUES!!!!!! It's internally in your camera - simple, when you open it (first you have to unscrew off the frame around the screen carefully) you will see that its not propely connected and the plug inside is loose!!!!!!). It's because the cable from 'internal usb' to your camera is very tight. Try to slacken the cable, propely plug the camera and... THAT'S IT!! IT REALLY WORKS!!!
My Acer OrbiCam is working properly when you use it as a camera (taking photos) but when you use it in Chat like skype or messenger, only color black will appear. what should I do?
i try to watch some thing on you tube but it says i need to install my abode flash player 2, i'v done that but then it says to close my applications i dont know how to do that idont know where to find it will somebody help me and the athor guys problems if one of you do that i would be greatfull and my respect holla cheers

i've uninstalled acer orbi cam and now i can't install it again!!!! HELPP
I have an Acer 5672 and I'm having *exactly* the same problem. The camera worked for a few days after my last reinstall of XP, and then started saying "in use by another application" which of course is not true... also a frequent although sporadic disconnect / reconnect noise. Same problem with Windows Vista (I'm dual-booting). Anyone???
