The lights on the ceiling fan dim and brighten at the same time

The lights of ceiling fan dim, as if one bulb is turning on and off after certain period of time. Does this have anything to do with my remote? If yes, what? and if now, is there a solution to avoid this problem.

The back of my Turn of the Century fan's remote control has this switch in the back of the battery housing. It's marked with 'D' and 'CFL' on either end. Can someone tell me what this switch means?

The switch is allows you to tell the remote which type of light bulb you have installed in the fixture. The CFL setting is for the included compact fluorescent bulbs. With these bulbs, you can only turn them on and off. If you put in incandescent bulbs, set the remote to D. Then you can dim the lights in the ceiling fan, in addition to turning them on and off with the remote. CFL bulbs can't be dimmed with this fixture.

I found this described in the manual for the Turn of the Century Midori 52" ceiling fan. This fan is available at Menards: https://www.menards.com/main/lighting-ceiling-fans/ceiling-fans/indoor-ceiling-fans/turn-of-the-century-reg-midori-52-contemporary-ceiling-fan/20338/p-1444433460319.htm . The direct link to the manual is currently https://hw.menardc.com/main/items/media/HONGK003/Install_Instruct/3551058-3551059_install.pdf .

I hope this helps.

The ceiling fan works but the light (new bulb) is extremely dim. What could be causing the problem. The fixture was professionally installed and the light was previously bright.

1. Check the wattage of the bulb. you may have fitted a higher, dense filament bulb.
2. The Switch - if you have a dial type knob on the switch, turn that higher to see if the light brightens.

Light on ceiling fan is very dim. Do not have dimmer switch. Changed bulb but light is still dim. Could something be wrong with the fan?

If it has a remote, press down on the light button and keep it pressed down until your light gets to full brightness.

I have a hunter ceiling fan model 23898 which has a dimmer switch built in one day a light bulb blew out on it and now we cannot turn off the lights with the switch the only way is to loosen the bulbs in...

Has anyone found a solution for this problem? I have tried a bulb in each light socket and attempted to use the pull/dimmer switch that is on the fan itself. The lights no longer dim nor turn off. I have unscrewed all of the bulbs and tried each bulb in each socket one at a time and still nothing. I have also taken the pull switch out of a different hunter fan to put into this one, hoping that atleast the lights would turn on and off. Still the lights won't turn off using the pull switch. I am out of ideas.

I have a Hunter fan with remote. The fan or the light comes on by itself with no one around

See my post below: (Sorry, we're in the same boat)

Hunter ceiling fan with remote, have 5, 4 are seriously impaired! Lights dim to half strengh after variable time 10 seconds-30 minutes. And lights or fan turns on randomly (come home & fan on full blast), and one in which the lights won't dim (just blinks when try to dim)! Hunter "kinda" admits there is serious problem with remote but doesn't have a solution. Tells people to try changing to different code due to possible interference (pain in **** to change code on ceiling base!), was totally ineffective. Then replaced receiver in ceiling base (another total pain) in 3 fans with new ones sent Hunter, still totally useless. Hunter's suggestion, don't use the remote, just use the pull chain. If I had wanted a pull chain fan, I'd have bought a pull chain fan. TOTALLY USELESS! Moral of story: If you want a remote ceiling fan (my friend found out that all their remotes are made by the same company in Taiwan), don't buy Hunter!!!!! P.S. I found a "Kinda"- fix for the lights dimming to half strenth. After turning on the lights, wait 1 second, then dim lights slightly, they will then stay on the strength that you dim them to. - P.P.S. When I changed the receiver in the one where the lights won't dim, it "solved" that problem...Now it has the same problem as the others, lights or fan turn on randomly!

40w candleabra bulb blew now can't turn lights off with remote

There is a receiver in the fan that when the light blew might have damaged that part of the receiver. I think you can buy them, but you will have to get into the base of the fan(ceiling cover).

Lights are now dim.......

Aside from a wiring fault upon installation that may be creating a small short, or interference from the fan motor, have you tried fixing the cheap parts? I.E. changing the lightbulbs out for a different set, or different types? Try using flourescent bulbs in place of your normal incandescent bulbs. Also, what wattage are you using? Your fan unit may have a limitation on wattage, or may only be throughputting a certain wattage due to a wiring problem. Does your fan have an energy saver setting?
