Entering setup network selected as first boot device for current boot

That a LAN boot Rom is used does not affect the keyboard entry used to enter setup.
The BIOS controls if the onboard LAN will run on boot up.
LAN Boot ROMs are used to download operating system code from a network server. So, the BIOS has priority.
The BIOS runs first, and if you enter setup by pushing the proper key for the motherboard, you can change the boot to DVD or another device (USB Stick) to troubleshoot the PC.

How can i have the password bios of laptop dell E6420

f you are running Dell servers, it is recommended to enable BIOS password. This is will prevent accidental changes done to Dell BIOS settings by others who get physical access to the server.

You can setup two different types of passwords in Dell BIOS:

System Password: This will be prompted before the system can boot up, and load the operating system.
Setup password: The system will prompt for this password only when you are trying to access the BIOS settings.

Depending on your situation, it might be a good idea to enable both the system and setup password at the BIOS level. I recommend that you at least enable BIOS password.
Press F2 for System Setup

When the Dell server is booting up, press F2 to start system setup, from where you can change Dell BIOS settings.

BIOS System Security

From the Dell BIOS main menu, scroll down to "System Security" and press enter.

Password Not Enabled

From here, you can see that both the System and Setup password is not enabled by default.

Enable System Password (and Setup Password)

Scroll to "System Password" and press enter, which will prompt you to enter the password that you like to set for the system. Please understand that if you set this password, you have to enter this password everytime you start the system. Do the same thing for Setup Password.

Don't forget this bios password. If you forget, then you have go through the painful process of resetting the Dell BIOS password.
Password is Enabled

Once you've enabled both the password, from the "System Security" menu, you'll see that that both system and setup password is enabled as shown below.

password is set

System Password Prompt (During Startup)

From now-onwards, anytime you start the system, it will not load the operating system, unless you specify the system password as shown below.

Setup Password Prompt (To Access BIOS)

If you press F2, to get to the BIOS, it will prompt for the setup password as shown below. If you don't enter a valid password here, you cannot access the Dell BIOS settings anymore.

The BIOS Setup Utility is a hardware configuration program built into your computer's BIOS (Basic Input/Output System).

Your computer is already properly configured and optimized, and you do not need to run this utility.

However,if you encounter configuration problems, you may need to run Setup.

To activate the BIOS Utility, press

To choose a parameter, use the cursor up/down keys (wy).

To change the value of a parameter, press p or q

Press

while you are in any of the menu options to go to the Exit menu.

MY MOTHERBOARD WON'T BOOT ERROR BIOS IS NOT FULLY ACPI COMPLIANT

Run BIOS configuration...power on...then press the DEL to run BIOS setup configuration...if you cannot access this process. Your Motherboard BIOS IC is defective and need to replace it. But most of this kind of problem...technicians replace the whole MOTHERBOARD with new one.
So, I suggest you to replace the motherboard with new. Do not intent to replace the BIOS IC because it will not work...due to different programming language depending on the brand of BIOS. Because AWARD and PHOENIX has different configuration...

Reset the BIOS on a Compaq server 740 jumpers settings

Don,t do that insatead:
Entering the BIOS Setup menu Entering the BIOS Setup menu requires pressing a specific key at a specific time. If you fail to enter the Setup menu on your first try, repeat the following steps until you are successful:
  1. Close all applications that are currently running and restart the computer by clicking Start , Shut Down , Restart the Computer , and then OK .
  2. When the red Compaq logo or blue HP logo screen appears, press the F10 key on the keyboard to enter the Setup menu.

NOTE: An alternate to the above steps, especially if the logo screen disappears too quickly to enter BIOS, is to shut down (turn off) the computer. Wait 30 seconds, turn the power on and press F10 or F1 at the logo screen. Reloading the default settings Complete the following steps to reload the factory installed BIOS Setup settings:
  1. In the BIOS Setup utility, select the Exit tab.
  2. Select Load Setup Defaults .
  3. Select Save Changes and Exit (pressing F5 and the Enter key will also load the Setup Defaults).
  4. Press Esc and then Enter to exit Setup.

I cannot boot from the cd rom to do a fresh install of windows xp onto the laptop (Toshiba Satellite 1805-S274 PC Notebook)

Most computers need to have the boot order reset in the Bios to enable booting from cd. The following should be the correct way to access the Bios setup for this model.

Starting with the system powered off (not in sleep/suspend or hibernate mode)-Start with the system powered off. Press the power button and then immediately press and hold the Esc key while the system runs the POST (Power On Self Test). When the POST finishes, a prompt will appear telling you to press the F1 key to enter BIOS Setup. At that time, press the F1 key to access the BIOS Setup program.

Once in the Bios setup, change the boot order to boot first from cd, then save changes and exit. You should then be able to run the cd install.

Setup utility

I think you are referring to the BIOS setup. The BIOS is the very first code that is ran after you trigger POWER, and controls all of the hardware in the PC, and without this 64k of code, your computer would not run. No display, no nothing. There have been some viruses known to infect the BIOS, the most famous being CIH, which formats the hard drive, empties the CMOS memory (also part of the BIOS, where settings such as time are stored) and re-flashes the BIOS, rendering the PC unusable. Luckily, this only infects Windows 9x machines with ATX motherboards.
