L7580 Fax problem

Is this the best HP can do? After reloading the 8.0 software 3 times I finally got my fax to work except, I offers me no option for a fax page. I am running XP home.

I had the same problem loading the 8.0 software. No fax cover page. HP tech support told me to reload my old software. Great, thanks HP for that great advice.

I keep getting error message 388 whenever I fax to any number. I have been able to receive faxes. My all in one is an HP officejet pro L7580

Hi there,

You probably need to run the fax test to check if the fax mechanism is working fine.

Click on Setup Button ( ranch like symbol ) on the printer front panel.
Scroll down till you find Tools ( press ok )
Check for Run Fax Test ( Press OK )
It will print the test results and everything should pass.

To solve your fax issue, follow the steps below.

Click on Setup Button
Check for Advanced Fax Setup ( or Basic Fax Setup ) - Press OK
Look for ECM ( Error correction mode ) - Press OK
Turn the ECM OFF

Try to send fax. It Should work.

Regards,
Ron

Is there a way to pull a fax log for the past year?

Press Setup>Print Report>Fax Log

Do this from the printer itself. The software on the PC shows an empty log, but the printer has the information you are looking for.

Change sender name on fax

if you are working from a windows pc open solution center, go to settings then to fax settings, from there go to fax set up wizard... that way you can also double check that the rest of the settings are the same as they should be but the set up wizard allows you to also make sure that the header is set up correctly as well as the the number and rings to answer as well name and the set up for line.

set up the fax driver in windows printers and faxes menu with the calling card prompts. you can use commas between sets of numbers for 2 second pauses. such as (example) 9,,1800callmci,,,2,,3,,cardnumber,,,4digitpin,,3685551212, - in this fashion, you can edit the fax number here before sending the fax.

Getting error when trying to fax or scan

The L7580 is not meant to be set up as a scanning device on a network. This unit can only function properly as a USB connected device to have all the features work. Also, for the software to install with out problems, all other All in One software fro previous HP printers need to be removed. Once we did that and did clean install using USB only then did it work.
