Samsung DVD/VCR combo (DVD v4600) makes loud sound when playing dvds
My VCR works fine, but recently the DVD player started making a loud sound in the middle of a movie. I thought it was the speakers, but it seems to be a problem with the player. It's like a b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b! sound, like something is having trouble spinning. Sometimes it won't load the disc. Other times it will load it and play it, but it will skip, and the loud sound will happen over the top of the movie sound. What is wrong with it? Can I fix it or should I just give it up and get a new one?
I already tried cleaning the laser with one of those disc cleaners, but it made the sound through the whole thing, and is still doing it.

Hi, In order to watch either DVD or VHS on your TV ,you need to make the following connections ..
You need to connect "DVD Player / VCR Combo" to" TV " as (Audio/video output
of DVD Player / VCR Combo -TO- Audio/Video input of TV) ..
use either "RCA analog (red/white +yellow ) " or "SCART "or
"Optic " cable.(any standard optical cable )...if exist ,optic is the best way to
connect it..Remember your DVD Player / VCR Combo 's "OUT" goes into" IN "of the TV ..
remember, wherever you connect your DVD Player / VCR Combo on your TV ,you should switch
the source selector accordingly to correspond to the connection on the
Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know. Take care and please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up for me to continue for Helping out the Community :)
My Smasung DVD/VCR Combo stopped reading DVDs because of a dirty read head. It started by only playing disks sometimes, and progressed to never playing disks. I assumed it was a dirty laser lens so I bought a lens cleaner set. Unfortunately my player wouldn't play the cleaner disk.
So I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens manually with some isopropyl alcohol (the clenser that came with my cleaning disk), and a lens cloth (that came with my glasses). Just open the case (starting with the screws in the back) and remove the snap in cross panel that obscures the lens of the DVD portion. Put a drop of cleanser on the lens and gently wipe it with the cloth.
Oh and by the way, I take no responsibility if you break your own player while following my instructions. My own DVD player was far out of warranty at the time I cracked it open.
if the dvd played sound but not the video then its not the laser pickup assy for sure. if the vcr had a oicture then that means all your cables are connected correctly. Now what it sounds likje is the video switcher IC in the controller circuit or in the dvd circuit the D to A converter went south. The only way to troubl;e shoot this would be to get a service manual/schematic and a scope to trace where you lose your video. im sure you dont wanna spend 4oo bucks or more for a scope so maybe just maybe it may be worth for a reoair oerson to diagnoise the unit. Its all up to you. Good Luck
