No power to our Cub Cadet LT1046

For the past couple months we have had to charge the battery on our Cub Cadet LT1046 because it was weak. Over the weekend we re-charged it once again. The tractor turned on briefly then turned off. Could not even get the lights to go on when turning ignition key. We bought a new battery, charged it, but nothing turns on still. Any ideas on what to look for?

Pinched/shorted wires, poss a wire is rubbing the frame of the mower, check the output of the alternator and check the charging system, make all ground wires are clean and tight, check all fuses and check the fuse holder for arching, replace as nessesary......good luck

LT1046 cub cadet blown clutch..what caused this with new Pto switchpto switch froze..replaced it still will not engage blades.what could blow the new clutch

Are you sure it's blown? Run two jumper wires from the battery or power side of the starter solenoid and energize the clutch. If it energizes and clicks, that's eliminated. Did you blow any fuses?

Is the red light on before you engage the blade?

There may be a blown diode in the charging circuit.

Battery- If this light illuminates while the engine is
running, it indicates that the battery is in
need of a charge OR that the engine's
charging system is not generating sufficient
amperage. Refer to Battery on page 26 of
this manual for the properbattery charging
procedure or have theengine's charging
system checked by a Cub Cadet dealer.

Battery drained after use

A lot of automotive parts stores will check a battery for free...
find your lowest amp rated (less than 10) and charge it over night.

Have battery load tested.

if good, place ammeter between battery and the rest of the tractor to check and see if load from running engine is draining or alternator isn't working.

or fast way to check an alternator on almost anything, start with battery, the pull off the negative (black) cable, if engine dies nothing is powering the engine but the battery (on an alternator driven electrical system, the battery is only used to start the engine)
