HDMI When I connect my cable box to my tv via HDMI Cable the picture is zoomed in.  When I try to change the picutre size it only allows me two choices and none solve the zoomed in look

Yes there is a trick. Usually the cable box and its remote determines the picture's screen size. First off, this television is able to display hd on an hd cable box. Make sure that this cable box is connected with this television the hd way only. It should only be connected to your television with either a component (green,blue,red, white, red) cable OR and hdmi cable. The coax cable should not be used to connect the cable box to the television if you have an hd cable box. Next make sure the television is on the proper input/source to display the cable box in hd.

Now if all of this has already been done, look for the hd zoom # button on your cable remote. It is usually towards the bottom. When you press it you change the screen size. You can buy a philips remote-the original one for your television at http://www.replacementremotes.com if you need the wide/stretch/zoom/viewmode button to further adjust your picture size.

yes signal from hdmi can,t be changed.

Can you tell me which Cable box you are using?Which model/region?

The possibility is that the HDCP handshake could not have happend correctly and hence the issue. Try to connect to different HDMI input of TV from Cable box. If possible change the resolution of cable box and check video

If you are also using a Cable Box, make sure that the zoom selection, (Format) ,on the Cable Box remote is set properly. Especially if the TV Remotes Aspect Ratio is set to a Wide Format.

I connected a fiber optic cable from the cable box to the receiver and connected an hdmi cable from the cable box to the tv.

The aspect ratio (zoom) button on the cable remote had been changed. On Brighthouse the # button toggles through the zoom settings. It's not a tv issue, it's a cable fix.

First, you have to tell me how the cable box is connected to the TV, by HDMI or component. If it is connected by HDMI, the cable box settings will override the picture size settings on the TV. It may be as simple as resetting the picture size on the cable box, but I am not familiar with the type of cable boxes that Comcast uses.

With an HDMI cable connected, the cable box determines the picture size. The settings on the cable box must be changed in order for you to get the correct picture size. I have some experience with Motorola cable boxes; usually to access the settings you turn the box OFF and then press the menu or settings button on the box to bring up the display menu. Hope this helps!

make sure your hd cable connection from your cable box is going to an hd connection to your tv.[via hdmi, dvi,or componant.] if you have a different hook up such as rca out or coax out, these are not hd connections and you are probably streching out the picture.look at the rear of the tv & cable box and see how the connections are.the hd hook up to the hd input should make the picture the right size only if it's set on the hd input channel.hook up the dvd player to a aux/line in or video/source input and try changing the picture size. you may have to play around with it till you get it the way you want.

assuming you all have comcast and using an hdmi cable
first access menu (hit it twice) and go to set picture format, choose passthrough....or in your case auto hdmi

then turn box off, press guide and info on the front of the box, proceed through the setup, advanced is more in depth..lol...

select 1080, 720, and then either the standard or widescreen 480s to your liking.....

voila....

now check your tv settings to accommodate
