Hello all... i just bought a new XP system, and purchased an E-MU 0404
midi card along with an Sound blaster Audigy LS sound card....
unfotunately, the creative surround mixer control (that comes with the
LS) that pops up in the taskbar is unable to load, saying "Unable to
change your sound device to your selected device"... if i uninstall the
0404 drivers, then this is not a problem. any solutions to that one? :)
but now for a more midi-related question.... I have hooked my 0404 up to
my very old Yamaha psr-420. When i go to record in Cubasis, I click on
the track i wish to record, but hear the keyboard's sound as 'tinny' or
sometimes a completely different instrument. what could be causing that?
Thanks for your help, and i apologize for the newbie-ish-ness of the
questions :)

Hello,
I have the E-MU 04/04 PCI Digital Audio System ,model number 8852 .Im having problems with my hardware and software installation, when i installed the 04/04 pci card in my computer, Windows recognized the pci 04/04 card as CREATIVE AUDIGY CARD instead of Emu 04/04 pci card.
Now when i went ahead to install the software drivers for Emu 04/04 pci card,i noticed that a message had appeared on the screen saying DRIVERS DOES NOT MATCH CARD .i kindly need answers thanx

you should have read the readme file. those two cards cannot
function with their own respective drivers, since the chip
which is the heart of the card is from the same manufacturer.
i paid special attention to it since i owned an audigy1 before
i got emu1212m.
do you really need an audigy in there?
if you are into music, i say ditch the audigy.
it is the fact that you record midi, not audio. then, basically,
with the yamaha keys you play windows general midi synth
available on your soundcard. you yamaha behaves like a dumb
controller with no sounds this way. if you want to hear your yamaha
properly, record it as audio, not midi.
it looks like you do not know the difference between audio and
midi well. midi is just numbers - notes and controllers (pitch bend,
volume, pan, filter cutoff, resonance, etc.). you cannot
transfer audio via midi cable, nor midi data via audio cable, that
are two completely different things.
