Z812 IS, Kodak, won't turn on when plu...

Love my camera, but the ac/dc adapter plug built into the camera won't turn on the camera. It worked properly one day, and not the next.
I bought a new adapter, still nothing, nada. so, the problem is with the camera plug. I usually use batteries also, but taking 200-300 photos daily requires the adapter plug in on the camera to work. I only plug in when the camera is off.
I can't afford to be without my camera, as I am doing some documentary type work.
Have you any solutions, or fixes ?
