Hm. Did you buy it from the interweb and was it used? If so then it could be fake.

you can try formatting it and if that doesn't work try replacing the battery.if you don't know how to format email me at [email protected] would try to format it first.(you will lose all of your songs but i will tell you a way to get free music fast and easy

You may have a defective MP3 player. I had one and had to send it back (it wouldn't show up on my laptop, and it manifested a graphical problem). Press and hold the Back/Home button for several seconds - see if the Settings Menu appears. Go to Video Settings and turn off the On-Hold Display.

I have the nwz-a816 and if have had this issue a couple of times... It seems to give me that message on songs I have downloaded from Napster... I just connected it to the computer that the Napster application is on and it corrects this problem... Hope this helps...
