Because the command mode of the remote control is different to the unit - hence the DVD 2 (or similar) indicator on the front panel display. Try changing the command mode of the remote itself, by pressing and holding ENTER/OK and the number 2 button together for 5 - 10 seconds, then release.
You should hopefully now have full remote function which matches your unit. Failing that, reset the unit to factory defaults as outlined in the user instruction manual (if you still have it, and this can usually be done without the remote).
1. Check the batteries in the remote to see if they have a charge. 2. If you have a DVD button on the unit itself press this and see if you get a response. 3. Unplug the unit and wait 30 second plug it back into the AC and try your DVD player , this usually resets the digital switch in the controller to default. 4. You may need to have the unit serviced. 5. Go to the manufacturer's site and check the "troubleshooting" information for this problem there may be a solution that I may not have covered here or there may be a procedure they have to reset the unit. I hope this helps! Have a great New Year!
Child Lock The control buttons on the front of the unit can be switched off so that your unit can only be operated using the remote control. 1Press C.LOCK. and SAFE will appear in the display window. None of the buttons on the front of your unit will work. If any buttons on the front of your unit are pressed SAFE will flicker in the display window for a few seconds. 2Press C.LOCK again to switch off the child lock. OFF will appear in the display window. Note – C.LOCK is not available on the DVD mode.
