My Mp3 player was not starting. while connected to PC or not

Hi jai mosl,

You may want to consider performing a Repair in order to return your player to factory settings, improve functionality, and update the firmware. Afterwards, be sure to charge for several hours and practice a regular charging routine.

IMPORTANT: Please back up data in the player before performing a repair.

  1. When your player is locked up or seems dead, you may connect to your PC to repair the device with the Device Manager.
  2. Launch Philips Device Manager at Start > Programs > Philips Digital Audio Player > SA2xxx > Philips SA2xxx Device Manager on your PC.
  3. Connect your player to the PC.
  4. Device Manager should acknowledge your player and automatically go into recovery mode.
  5. Follow the instructions given by Device Manager to proceed.
  6. After the player has been repaired, click OK and disconnect your PC.
  7. The player is ready for use again after restart.
If you are still experiencing issues, you can find FAQ's, software, and manuals at:

Consumer Care can be reached at 1-888-744-5477 if you need additional assistance.

Hope this helps! Let me know by rating this solution. Thank you.

Matsunichi MF326-256 "locked"

I had same problem, after not using it for years and losing the instructions which I had downloaded in 2005.

Then I recalled that plugging my earphones in might unlock it, and it did. I also plugged it into my PC to add and remove some files (but I don't think that had anything to do with it,

Try it. I have to say this site hasn't helped me as no-one seems to know the answers and google didn't help either!

I'd still like to get the instructions again. In the mean time I will press the buttons and cross my fingers!

Keys locked.

The user's manual is available from RCA's website - it will show you the location of the lock switch.

Frozen and now keys locked

there is a hold or lock button on the slide - slide it into the opposite position - definitely in the manual, which can be retrievedf from RCA's support website

Mp3 player says key locked system shut down

I had this same problem on another RCA player.. with no instructions manual it was hard to figure out what keys locked meant. Then I noticed a little slider on the side of the player, it has a little icon of a pad lock on it. Once I slid this back, the keys lock problem went away and I was able to listen to my music once again.

My best guess of what keys locked means.. you don't want you mp3 player to turn on when you put it in your pocket with your keys, so you change the slider to be locked, when your sit down and your keys are pressing against your on button, the mp3 player will shut off... as we all have experienced in frustration.. saving your battery.

Perhaps RCA should make this slider bright orange so it pops out and does not blend in so much, or they should put it right next to the on button.
