Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

3 Answers

Replacment lamp I THOUGHT MY original lamp was burnt out, so I replaced it. However the TV new lamp only stayed on for 7 seconds then it died. The original red lamp light (on TV) came on again. I tried the old lamp and it stayed on for 7 sec then died..... Same red light came on. Does this mean that my original lamp is good and something else is wrong. If so how can I trouble shoot for that?

We are having this same problem. Tried a new bulb and the same results. Yes, our tv is a WD-52525. When we purchased this TV from Ultimate Electronics on 1-24-2005 we also purchased an extended warranty till 2009. Ultimate is out of business now but the warranty company is called WarrenTech. They told us that this problem was "relatively new" and that their Techs are working on a solution..it has been a week now...nothing... So I am searching online to see if I can help the process. Any comments are greatly appreciated!

I thought my lamp was out... the red light came on... I replaced it and the new lamp didn't work either.

We are having the EXACT same problem, only after the first 6 (Yes 6 lamps-under warrenty) we figured out that the lamps had nothing to do with the red flashing light.
We have had SO many problems with this TV, I have decided to see if I can go about fixing it myself.
If you do know where I can get the parts to repair this on-going problem I would really appreicate any help. Obviously our warranty is up now.
    Thanks, Frustrated

Two 3300 uf caps go bad on the power board giving a false lamp error. You can replace the ones you see black stuff coming out the top of to fix. They will be domed on top or leaking fluid out. I recommend a full chassis rebuild on this model, your service center can send into mits to fix all 14 caps that will go bad.

Check your ballast and air filter. I am checking to see if I can get some detailed info on your set. It is a WD52525 correct?

Trying to replace lamp in HDTV and having trouble. Does not function correctly after putting in new bulb. Boots up and then visuals go black and the green power light keeps flashing. Help?

Panasonic DLP TV Bulbs

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.

TY-LA1001 Timer reset

While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.

KF42WE610 bad lamp... and ballast?

Hi,
DLP Lamp has electrodes inside and ballast generates high voltage that makes spark on these electrodes thus got high bright light. New lamp wont die due to bad ballast so replace lamp and see tv works or not.
This tv has self diagnostic feature, turn On tv and let it shut down, now check standby light that would be blinking in specific order, for example 3 or 4 times blink then pause for 3 seconds and again blinks.
Let me know how many times standby light blinking in this tv to help you with more info.
Thanks.

New lamp turns on flashes 7 times

Just a thought...you *might* have a bad ballast in addition to that defective power supply. That flashing could be the ballast trying to ignite the lamp. A lamp is just like an enclosed welder's arc. The ballast generates a high-voltage spark to initially start the lamp, then low voltage with high current keeps it burning. If you look into the lens and see "lightning" flashes but no lamp ignition, that's what's happening. The ballast could've been damaged by the defective supply. Also, try a known-good lamp...just to rule out a defective new one--in the shop, we kept all old working lamps as testers.

Hi, Lamp of TV getting weaker and requires replacement. This shut off by itself will increase day by day until you put new lamp in TV. Always Buy Sony original lamp and avoid aftermarket/ cheap lamp for TV safety.

Maytag MMV5165AAS work surface light won't work. I bought a new light and replaced the old one but it still will not turn on. THe microwave display goes thought the cycle of High, Low, Off but nothing...

If the lamp socket has power (and it's the right voltage) and the replacement lamp is the correct one and tests good, then the trouble is in the socket. It may have been damaged when the original lamp went "poof." Check for damaged contacts (burnt or broken off). Also, make sure you're seating the lamp correctly in the socket. If the bulb is a push-and-turn ("bayonet") type, you may be facing it the wrong way and it's not going all the way in.

50? Samsung DLP TV Model #HLR-5067W

Did you use an original replacement lamp or an aftermarket replacement? From the price you give, it sounds like an aftermarket lamp, which are notoriously buggy and the problem may be with the lamp. If not, the lamp driver is your next likely culprit. It is also called a lamp power supply or lamp ballast.

I had the same issue when replacing my lamp for the first time. I replace just the bulb with the Phillips replacement bulb. After installing the power down issue started and it would take up to 7 attempts before the TV would stay on with a picture.

Since I never had this problem until i replaced the bulb i decided to send the new bulb back and replace it with a difference one. In my opinion replacement parts are never made to the same standard as original OEM parts. This TV is definitely very temperamental in regard to the bulbs.

When the second replacement bulb arrived I decided to not only replace the bulb I also cleaned the connector plug in the cartridge with a QTip and alcohol. I did the same for the plug receptor in the TV.

When I replaced the bulb i insured the the top of bulb lettering was facing the handle of the cartridge so when you put the cartridge back in the TV the top of the bulb would be facing you.

I also cleaned the entire inside of the TV where the cartridge is inserted including the screws.

Once I did all this the TV turned on the first time and has been working fine for three days now.

I do believe the replacement bulb position is very important as to how it heats up and determines when it needs to cool.

I hope this helps others with the same success i had because I really do not want to replace this TV and start replacing all the parts others have done with little to no success for this issue.
