I use a speed controller, medium speed. Top thread keeps fraying and breaking. Have tried changing needles, used 100/16 hlx5, 90/14, janome numbers 16, 14, 12.

When the thread is fraying at the needle eye, it sometimes means the thread is being held back somewhere in the thread path. Remove the top thread. ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and rethread. Verify the thread path is correct. Check the tension. If it is too tight, the tensioner is not allowing the thread to advance. (When you raise the presser foot, are you able to pull the top thread?) Try changing thread brands. Some threads and machines just do not get along. AVOID old or bargain bin threads. If you are stitching coarse, abrasive fabric, it can cause thread to fray and break.

My Janome memory craft model 9000 sewing machine is now sewing at one slow speed. The quality of the stitch is good but too slow what should I look for?

Your speed slide sensor is bad. Your local repair shop can fix it. There is a chance it's the foot pedal. If it's still slow when you sew without your pedal, then it's the sensor.

My janome feedomatic compact sewing machine gone's wild. As soon as i plugged it on,itautomatically runs at full blast! Can anyone tell me what's wrong? I cant see any auto buttons on

unplug the foot controller to eliminate it as the problem ,however if the machine does not run like mad as soon as you switch it on
without the foot pedal then you have isolated the problem to the foot pedal,it could be stuck on full speed .

How do you fit and use a quilters foot

The 1600-DB requires a special Walking or Even Feed Foot due to the high sewing speed, so ensure that you have the correct foot, as the "normal" top loading machine foot will not fit.

I hope these images will assist in showing how the fitting should look.

This is the Normal - WRONG - foot to compare:

This is the CORRECT Foot:

From the Janome Accessories Guide:

"The even feed foot walks over fabric to assist with smooth feeding. Fabric can be sewn without puckering as the fabric is gripped and fed by both the upper and lower feed dogs. This foot has been specially designed for durability and to work at the high speeds of the 1600 series.

Part Number - 767-403-016"
