Question about Vizio L37 Television

1 Answer

Vizio vx37l green/red/blue sparkles

Bought a refurb vizio vx37l from in 7/07. worked fine with digital cable, ps2, wii, and dvd player till today.

the tv has video issues, with all inputs. no matter what input is used[cable, dvd, game console, or even while selecting between the inputs],the image gets [mostly] green, [but often red, and bright blue] sparkles, mainly in the darkest areas of the picture. sometimes, it's only a faint haze of these colors, and sometimes the entire picture is nothing but bright, hi-liter colors. other times, the picture's fine. sometimes for an hour, sometimes 30 seconds at a time.

interestingly also, when i switch between inputs, it'll have an all-yellow screen while switching, but then once the tv realizes there's no signal, it'll go to all-blue

all settings are normal, it isnt on 100% color and 100% contrast oranything odd. resetting all settings to stock doesn't help, turning onand off again doesn't help, and pulling the plug and letting the setreturn to room temp doesn't help. as mentioned, it happens with allinputs, and even pip shows two inputs, both 'inverted'-looking.

is there any simple explanation of what is happening here, and anythingthat can be done?? obviously with a refurb, it's beyond its 90 days. ihave searched for any similar issues [with vizio or not] and foundnothing online!

thanks for any help!

Unable to run my vcr/ dvd with my new vizio my dvd player is 8 years old I hav the cables

You can still use your rca cables to run your vizio to your older dvd player just match up the Red and yellow with Blue and Green and run one channel with your audio with the white cable. it should work fine.

Bought new componant cables for new tv and the wii will not play in color. tryed moving cables around still no luck the different combo's that i tried either switched every thing to all red or all blue!...

Make sure the colors line up.

If the tv has a second componant input then test it in that input.

I Have just bought this reviever (Yamaha Rx-v365)and im just trying to work out how to best connect all my devises. I have Tivo, Lg DVD player with both yellow, red white cables and blue green red cable...

Hi, firstly some terminology:
yellow cable - video composite (worst quality)
white/red - stereo analog audio
blue/green/red - video component (second best quality after HDMI)

You are correct that RX-V365 doesn't do audio over HDMI. Moreover it also doesn't do any video processing, which means composite video input will go only to composite video output (and not to component); compoment input only to component output and HDMI input only to HDMI output.

If you have more devices of same video output (in your example the component blue/green/red), you can connect them to TV via the receiver. But if only one device of same video output, you can connect it directly to TV. There is no reason to go through your receiver for video.

For audio, you can use either the analog stereo white/red cables (rx365 has 5 such inputs) or better use digital SPDIF connection, which is slightly better quality and more importantly supports 5.1 sound. There are 2 types - coaxial (orange RCA plug, can use basic rca cable) and optical (square black connector). Receiver has 1x coax spdif input and 2x optical spdif inputs. Look at your other equipment to decide which cable to use.

For the analog audio inputs, I think you can assign it either to composite video or component video. So for DVD audio white/red plugs, you can choose if either Video composite yellow plug named DVD will be used, or component blue/green/red named DVD will be used.

Connecting a wii system to a sanyo DP26648 tv

It has to do with the type of input - Video2 and 3 are Component video inputs, requiring a 3- wire component video cable (Red,blue, green for video, red/white below for audio). Video 1 is for analog equipment (Yellow for the video, red and white for the audio). Unless your Wii comes with a component video out cable and jacks (same red blue green), you'll have to use video 1 for the Wii, and use Video 2 for the dvd. You'll need a component video (3-wire) cable for your dvd, which should have the jacks for it. You can use the present cable you're using for the dvd, but you'll have to change the connections on the back of the dvd to component video out, and you'll still need another 2-wire cable to connect the audio out on the dvd to the audio in on Video 2 on the tv.

Here's the manual for your tv - look on page 8 for these connections. the Wii will be an analog connnection, the dvd will be a digital connection.

Hope this helps!

Wii gone black and white, no colour

I bought a wii a few days ago and like everybody else mine too was in black and white with a grainy picture. I have a Panasonic lcd flat screen and thought I had connected it corrected, I got somebody out to have a look at it and found out there are some connections on the side of the TV which I hadn't even noticed before, once I put the red white and yellow leads in these and set the TV to AV3 everything is in perfect colour. Hope this works for some of you.
